Look, i'm not a hermit or anything...i used to have more mates than i could deal with, but as i got older i suppose all the crap in the world began to get to me bit by bit, year on year.

The nasty buggers, the greedy, the manipulation, the liars, the rest of it.

The world isn't what i thought it was (ok, the world is beautiful, it's the 'orrible people on it that's the problem) when i was younger..idealistic i suppose.

Hey MysterX,
I know you're not here looking for friends, but I just wanted to say that I completely relate to what you wrote above.

I have no friends in real life anymore. If I need someone to talk to, I have to come online...here...to the Shed and to my ATS friends/family. (Isn't that pathetic?)

If it wasn't for the people here who have cared for/about me...geez, I don't know where I'd be. When I claim love for members of this site, I really do mean it. They are in my heart.

Not pathetic Jacy, communication methods have changed the world.
I hope you bump into a face to face person you can connect with though, for sure if we bumped into each other at my local shops and started a conversation I imagine it would create a new 'real life' friendship.

I talk to anyone I catch eyes with in life, the world is full of beautiful new people, from homeless heroin addicts I share a smoke with sat on the steps, to millionaire powerful men who just want a safe bloke to share their emotions with.
Human contact is deeply important to me, and I imagine most of us.

Thanks for the offer nonspecific...please don't trouble yourself, it's fine.

Venting i suppose, not at you or anyone in particular..just at the way it all is.

Nothing to worry about.

It is not trouble but why vent?

There is a perfectly good rant forum here for just such a reason.

Let it all out said the hippy that has drank too much because he is almost forty years old and wallowing in self pity.

Anyhows good luck and you know where we are if you need to have a moment, I am off to get drunk and not worry about the almost big 40....

Peace and love.

Aww, thank you grainofsand.

I make friends everywhere I go.
The problem is the fact that I treat everybody really well, and then everyone wants to be my friend.

I look back now and see how many people NEEDED me, which isn't the same as being my friend. When my turn came to need someone, nobody was there.
I have a history of giving and doing for everyone, putting everybody else ahead of myself...only to find myself alone when I was no longer in a position to support all my 'friends'.

Good thing I'm an only child...I spend a lot of time alone in my life. I'm care-giving (daily) my mama-in-law (89 with aggressive dementia/Alzheimer's), so my wind down time is usually spent here.
I get the love/kinship/interaction that keeps me going.
It is what it is.

Okay, when I said I loved people here...not you.
Just kidding, obviously.

See? This is love. I swear you follow me into threads sometimes, to make sure I'm not going to stick my head in the oven!! (But seriously, have you ever even seen me in a food thread?)

Thank you for making me laugh. (all the time)

Gordi is sort of my appointed 'keeper', lol. Apparently I need one?

Hey!!

I just had a thought.
What if the other members here think the Shed folk are weird, like a hippy community or something...with all that 'love and light crap'...hehe...?
I just picture someone clicking on a thread and thinking, "Ugh...those Shed people have invaded..."
Maybe we should get outta here? Oh...grab the donuts!
