This is a deluxe story coming from Illinois.

Seems they can't get enough money to pay their bills.

Although this has been ongoing, now somebody has decided to knock the house down and delay State Legislator's their paychecks !!!!!

The fat lady is singing finally.

Bankrupt Illinois Is Out Of Money, Legislators’ Paychecks Delayed

Illinois Comptroller Leslie Munger announced at a press conference in Chicago on Sunday that she was delaying paying the state’s legislators until there are sufficient funds available to cover the checks. She said that the practice of prioritizing those paychecks ahead of other agencies waiting for their money was over:

Our social service network is being dismantled, mass layoffs are occurring and small businesses across Illinois are awaiting payments for services they’ve already provided.

As our cash crunch grows in the coming months, it is only appropriate that the unfair prioritization of payments to elected leaders ends.

Now What you Illinois Geniuses ?

You knew it was only a matter of time. Last I heard, Illinois had jacked up their state taxes a huge amount just so they could hope to cover the hole needed to allow them to borrow enough to cover their budget.

What kind of fiscal sense is that?! Hike taxes a huge percentage, not to operate a balanced budget, but so you can borrow enough to maybe make ends meet.

This is what happens in states like California, Illinois and other 'liberal utopias'.

Their ideas sounds great on paper, but make no financial sense.

Hilarious.

Maybe a few people will starve to death, then we can have a real hearty chuckle about it.

The people of Illinois have continually voted for this over and over again. Sometimes, a child has to touch the hot pot on the stove before they learn that that what their parents have been telling them over and over is true - it burns and it doesn't feel good.

Yeah, right, only if we elect the right person to the office. You know Bernie and Hillary will tell us Illinois is too big to fail. Trump might use bankruptcy law to his advantage. Could you imagine him selling parts of the state off to its neighbors to raise revenue for what's left?

I knew this day was coming and I. Love. It.
They've let corrupt union leaders and politicians in Chicago run the whole state. They are finally getting exactly what they deserve. Wonder how much they'll try to squeeze out of us over this. I am seriously considering putting my house up for sale and moving either back to my home state of Kentucky or Texas.

They are thinking about taxing us again for every mile we drive...I guess Madigan made the bill and is trying hard to push it. Like I have said in another post..our taxes are outrageous..we have a normal city lot and pay over 3K/year. Property taxes..sales tax..extra city tax on top of sales tax..extra gas tax..it's really crazy. I know some of the school districts that are close (southern illinois) are not doing registration for next year...they don't have the money and are not getting paid..so no school..at least not at this moment.

Yeah..we are thinking of moving to Owensboro. My dh works in Evansville..so it wouldn't be that far of a drive. It takes him 2 hours to get to work now...we tried living in Evv...but hated it.

Yeah, Evansville has gone to the dogs. Every time I'm down in Ky visiting my Mom, I hear about more shootings and robberies. And the truck drivers don't call it "Stoplight City" for nothin'.

Dumb ass liberals. The solution to their problem is to CUT SPENDING and if someone looses income then deal with it. Most people in the private sector have lost jobs or lost income and maybe it's time the golden goose makes a sacrifice too.

Democrat / socialist policies work great, until they run out of other people's money..

I for-see the same thing should Bernie Sanders win the election, except it will be the whole country, not just the socialist democrat states like California and Illinois.

There is no such thing as a FREE LUNCH!

Wish people would understand that..

Detroit is another fine example, and look at how well Flint is doing, more shining examples.

Let's talk about Kansas, and that is about as far from a liberal stronghold as possible.

They can't fund their public schools, school districts are having to close early. Yeah true Republican utopia there, they want their voters dumbed down.

The same thing should be done in every state and at the federal level when legislatures don't pass a budget on time. They hold state and federal programs hostage while they continue to receive their pay checks. Meanwhile they're hurting their constituents who they're supposed to be representing.
