no, there are pieces of good moments and truths included as is everywhere, so it is not PURE evil, is there really such a thing?

They sue or harass anyone who publically criticizes them. Any organization or person who was secure in their spiritual beliefs would not pursue that course of action.

Not evil, just a scam started by a known scam artist that preys on the wealthy mentally ill IMO.

I'm sure among those at the top, you would find people that may fit the word evil.

Of COURSE Scientology is (relatively) evil... any org that uses secretive bully tactics, sucks funds based on fear and partial info and isolates initiates is.

Not to say all Scientologists are evil.. .but the upper echelon? Certainly.

etax2: and upon further reflection they are less "evil" than "ridiculous" ... but evil tends to be ridiculous as well.

Been to their church in toronto... Sat through the introductory course...

And they immediately told me afterwords i have issues, and they will solve them if i pay for the next course...

There have been a few to come out and expose Scientology, but they have books to sell, so using some members standards, are they credible?

Tom Cruise seems happy enough, and he does all his own stunts don't you know? He also speaks German he claims, but I remember when Jonathan Ross asked him a legitimate question in German and poor old Tom didn't have a clue.

So, are they evil? I don't think so. Warped? Without doubt, but evil, I don't think so.

Not in so many words... they asked me a few leading questions, to which the answer was... "Well we can help"

Gave me a book about their methods... and a DVD... the wife at the time was very interested, but she's an idiot anyways...

But they explained how things work... its constant payments for the "next step" in their process...

IMO the Org has a lot wrong with it. I'm just not sure I'd use the word 'evil'.

Money-grubbing, dishonest bunch of shysters is more accurate.

People are better off in the Freezone. Although it's best to be wary of some of them, too.

I can just see P. T. Barnum saying 'darn I should have thought of that one first'

I took a few courses back in the 1970s and they won't stop harassing me and accusing me of "crimes"!

Now hold on a minute there.

There would be nothing wrong with a science fiction writer creating a religion if it where the big GR, roddman, big berry supreme, or whatever we want to call him. Granted his "religion" would be one of anti religion and you really wouldn't worship anyone or have any sort of structure, but I bet it would be a damn good "religion"

Now, that hack hubbard on the other hand. i wouldn't follow a set of directions to an ice cream shop that he wrote on a dirty hotdog napkin.

Scientology is for the easily manipulated fools that want a little more ray gun to their brainwashed belief system, it's just a fact that old school religion is just too old people-ish. These youngsters what something fresh.

I hear the pope is in talks with cameron and bay to rewrite some of the old book to inject some robots, aliens and some other youthful elements into the bible to get the next generation in the door.

Personal I'd like to see mister rr martin pen in a few chapters, not just for the incest(that's already in there) but for some dragons and wicked fight scenes.

I think it's foolish, but not evil inherently. It's premise is semi reasonable, but Ron Hubbard and Parsons were neophytes albeit with stolen truths....very dangerous, and we all see the results now...

The best expose film about what goes on there is a movie titled Going Clear.

Religions aren't as evil as some countries, Scientology isn't bombing countries back to the stone age. The only control man made religion has over people is the power their members give to it.

All they have to do is walk away…
