Thanks for that second video. That is some interesting information. If all those facts are true and the advanced combat ship was actually rendered useless that would make things a bit real for those on board.

And did you look at the major differences? Five hundred feet at a thousand yards. I don't remember anything about a simulated attack either. This incident involved them going past at well under a hundred yards, and performing simulated attacks. Huge difference between the two. Good effort though.

It was BS. The system they claimed was used was a low power self protection system to defend the aircraft against radar guided missiles.

Just watched your video, if that is accurate then someone has either skipped corners in EM sheilding on the Aegis system or actually provided a substandard system after the right hand's have been greased, I would love to get a look at the output of that Russian device and what manner of output it emit's, I would imagine that they Russian jet had to get very close though to use it if it is an EM white noise type saturation device but that mean's that the Russian navy likely has larger version's that can be ship mounted for longer range EM warfare.

That is seriously very worrying information, shame the donald cook was not equipped with full spectrum analysis and recording system's to sample the output of the russian device but even if it had been like the device most likely has a randomized modulating high amplitude output, I would imagine it should be possible to shield against it but likely a single vessel will remain vulnerable, maybe taking several vessels and linking them line of sight using laser communication's could allow a pod of ships seperated over an area of sea so long as they maintain line of sight with one another to counter the effect on any one single vessel by sharing date in this method and directing the crippled vessels data from the information provided by the other ship's but of course this is only a stop gap and it also assuming only one vessel to be jammed at a time.

I would also like to see what potential that Russian device has against air to air and surface to air missiles once they are in flight, Aspect target tracking based systems may be less vulnerable but have other short coming's and of course radar tracking missile's would likely be just as vulnerable as the radar on the ship so as well as a weapon it sound's like it may be a handy countermeasure device, of course a missile that simply homed in on the em jammers own signal would make it a liability for the russian pilot rather than a counter measure.

And while everyone was getting conceited and thinking they were thick?.

Interesting but it throw's the possiblity of a short term shift in the balance of power back into the game which instead of defusing the situation is likely to cause a mini arms race to compensate for it and of course China probably now has it as well.

According to KRET the Khibiny jamming system isn't even installed on the Su-24. It was originally designed for the Su-27, and is the equivalent of the F-16 AN/ALQ-213.

Not just CNN. It was the lead story that evening on both ABC and NBC, probably CBS too. All the worried looks on the faces of the talking heads, high anxiety for the fly by. I don't know whether to laugh or to cry.

Wht makes you think I didn't? it doesn't matter anyway because both incidents were considered aggressive by the US, and if there was damage done in the first incident, then it was even more a dangerous action that the second...and in both incidents, complaints were lodged. As for electronic damage actually occurring, there were claims and counter claims despite the jamming system manufacturer coming out and saying that those aircraft had no system fitted, although it took a while, which sort of makes them, well, a little hoaxy themselves, if indeed it was a hoax, end of the day, nobody really knows, despite what anybody may think.

On the other hand, NATO seem to acknowledge that this Khibiny system works, and that Russian advances in EW puts them ahead of the West, and seemingly they also have a very competent different jamming system in use in Syria.
Now, I would think perhaps that US forces may not have had to deal with sophisticated jamming devices in the recent past, that might be a little unsettling at least.
As for the media, there's not much chance of getting anything without sensationalism out of them.

It doesn't matter so much about the video in relation to what actually happened at the time of the incident, however, that the equipment does exist, and does work, would be very worrying at this time.
However, there has been little discussion about the equipment, while people are just told about these, 'incidents'
My guess is that they don't want to talk about it, or rather, have it discussed in the media, but don't let that stop you from searching further if there is something you need to clarify for yourself.

Where did anyone say that the Khibiny didn't work? Whether it does or not doesn't change the fact that it's not designed to do what you're claiming it may have done. It's a self defense system not an escort system. There's a huge capability difference between the two.

Yes they're ahead in some EW areas just as they're ahead in some missile areas. That doesn't mean they can magically turn a low powered EW system into a system that shuts down Aegis. The difference in capabilities comes down to who has the faster system. When it comes to fighter sized aircraft based EW systems the US is still slightly ahead because they use smaller, faster processors. When it comes to ground based systems or large aircraft based systems Russia has the edge because they mount more processors to get a faster response.

There's actually quite a bit about the Khibiny out there if anyone bothers to research. And no matter how hard you try, you're not going to change it into a system powerful enough to shut down an Aegis. That's not what it's designed for.

Show me where it's been said it doesn't work. It doesn't work for what you're claiming is a radically different statementthan it doesn't work.
