With two of my three pregnancies, I had the strangest craving - I wanted to eat rocks. Gravel. I was filled with this urge to try chewing or sucking on rocks!

I never did it, of course, but took it as a sign I needed more minerals in my diet.

Congratulations! Hope you have an enjoyable pregnancy!!

No menthol cigarettes allowed for anyone in Nova Scotia.

I honestly never had any cravings... you hear stories of "Ohmygosh, I NEED PICKLES AND ICE CREAM NOW!!!!!!" but.. I never got that, haha.

I just ate my regular food. Maybe a bit more savoury than normal? I usually have a huge sugar tooth.

I will warn you in advance though, you will cry for no reason. None.
I dropped an egg and dissolved into tears. Someone at work gave me a funny look and next minute I'm have a tear attack, as soon as it stopped it would start again, regain control? Nope, the tears came back. Just had to go home for the day.

Prepare! For your emotions!

Whiskey and menthol cigarettes.

Just know that I held back from saying anything about your mother, because that wouldn't be polite.

That's such a crappy experience. It seems a lot of women would be happier with more traditional midwife services.

Congrats on your pregnancy!

I had hyperemesis gravidarum with both of my pregnancies, so I was sick much of the time through my second trimester. It improved in the third. On the occasions that I was feeling well, I mostly wanted to eat strawberry Mento candies, fresh pineapple, and pomegranate seeds. I also craved hot sauce to the point that I would keep packets of Texas Pete at my desk and suck one down on its own as a snack, but fair warning, spicy food and vomiting are a terrible combination.

You're down home? Where abouts? I'm from the Metro-Valley area. Well, in Ont. for the past 18 years. And no menthols in NS anymore? When and why? They were popular.

Once you incorporated more minerals, did the craving go away?

A friend really wanted to drink nail polish remover during her pregnancy. She didn't, of course, lol.

I'm right in the armpit/Fundy Bay Area.

The government regulated out almost all kinds of flavoured tobacco a while ago. Something to do with kids smoking.

I'm not a smoker, so it didn't affect me. Some people were really peeved about it.

Congratulations!
Our first, a boy, was a surprise too.
The doctor told me I'd never be able to get pregnant.
We have five kids! Ha, ha!
I often wonder how he made out with his practice?!

We were still living in Hawaii at the time,
& I was eating lots of Japanese pickled vegetables & pineapple coconut juice!
Never realized it was cravings, since the ladies I worked with,
were sharing a lot of recipes at the time & bringing in things to share for lunch.
Then we moved to the mainland & I started wanting hoagies!

With the next one, a girl, it was hot chocolate & grapefruit!
The next two were boys & it was Mounds candy bars & Pepsi or Coke.
The last one a girl, it was Mounds bars at first,
but then meat & homemade sauerkraut!
It was funny, she hated coconut for years, but loves sauerkraut!

I was so tired with the girls & my stomach stuck out right away.
With the boys I had a lot of energy & didn't look that big.
I gained the same amount of weight with all of them, just carried them differently.
The first one it was three weeks past my due date when I finally went into labor!
When I went to the hospital, the nurses insisted I must be having a miscarriage!
They thought I must have figured my due date wrong!
My stomach was so small, that I was able to wear my regular shirts,
& I only had to wear maternity pants the last couple of months!

They would never let anyone go past their due date these days!
It's a good thing my doctor let nature take it's course,
he only weighed 6 pounds, 12 ounces when he was born!
The rest all weighed 8 pounds & I gained 30 pounds with all of them.

With the last one, whenever I ate dairy, I got heartburn!
I nursed all of them & she got horrible colic whenever I ate dairy too.
It took me awhile to figure out what was wrong though!
You would think by the 5th I would know stuff!
But each pregnancy is different just like each child is.

Enjoy the experience & write everything down.
Even though you think you will never forget, you do!
Or in my case, after awhile they all blur together!!!

I craved fast food Mexican food, specifically, Taco Bell. Good quality Mexican food did nothing for me - it had to be Taco Bell. Weird, as I rarely ever ate Taco Bell before I was pregnant, and I never eat it now.
