Far be it for me to disagree with you

But I think we (in the US) are just too hung up on sex and gender.

As much as I loathe to say it, perhaps adopting a more "European" approach to sex and gender identity might be a positive thing.

When I'm sitting looking at a moose, and suddenly a small handfull of politically connected people drop by and say "that's not a moose, it's a mule deer" and then attempt to pass a law that demands I not only treat this specific moose as a mule deer, but refer to it as "mule deer," and even change my thought patterns to lie to myself until I believe that particular moose is a mule deer, there's a huge problem... If the Europeans are considered more "advanced" than Americans on this issue, then I'd say they've been successfully duped and likely have fallen prey to some manner of brain washing to reach that point.

I could care less what they want to call it.

If the moose wanted to be a mule deer, then it's really none of my business. I tend to ignore government as much as I can. 99% of what comes out of their pie holes tends to be fit for a toilet (any gender) anyways.

If a person wants to be a salmon, the only thing they'd have to worry about me is if they identify as a steelhead and I have my fishing pole.

It's like those stupid "indigo children".

People can call themselves whatever they want. It doesn't make it so, nor does it affect me in any real way. I'm a cranky old bastard. If someone even wants to share toilet space with me, then I pity the idiot.

Do any of you people actually think that sexual predators are routinely visiting public restrooms and the only thing thwarting them is that they can't go in the other restroom?????

Do you go into a public restroom expecting to be hit-on? Or to get lucky and hit on someone else?

It's ridiculous.

You all have no doubt been in the presence of "trans" people and never even knew the difference.

This is so tiresome and stupid and unworthy of attention.

"EwWW! Cooties!!" *eyeroll*

For crying out loud. Just Freaking pee or poop - then wash your hands and go on about your day. No one else in the bathroom cares.

NOBODY IN THE BATHROOM CARES ABOUT your junk! Unless you are prowling known gay-bar hook-up venues and their restrooms...and if you are, then stop being squeamish. Sheesh.

No lack of compromise and real solutions is what caused this bill.

We have extreme far left and extreme far right now unable to compromise and both thinking they're morally superior.

Both are equally scary

Equal Rights is far left?

There was a time the religious thought seizures were being possessed by the devil. That's a physical thing too.

Far too many Christian Republicans still think that.

LOL, I was gonna say that. It took restraint.

If you are a lady with a bit of a mustache, you might be harassed on the way into the bathroom?

Apparently, that is already happening.

There are some "butch" women with vaginas.

Unrefined, assholish, but very valid answer: Public shame and scorn worked pretty well for decades. Get caught in the wrong toilet, find your photo with a scathing commentary in the following day's newspaper.

There may be some really pissed off tomboys or masculine looking women, if their pic ends up in the media about using the women's bathroom.
I'd sue someone.
It cannot be enforced, unless the bathroom user is known for sure to be of the wrong gender, by someone that actually knows the person in question.

Let each state run its state the way that state wants to the state.

Let the "equipment" be the deciding factor in what bathroom you go in.

You do understand there are trans children, right?

You want, say a 5 year old, m/f girl to use the men's room.

An m/f girl of 5 can use whatever bathroom her parents escort him/her to.
If he/shes with dad, go to mens. If he/shes with mom, use the womens.
Prepubescents can pretty much go into any bathroom, if accompanied by an adult.

When that child gets older, he/she can use whatever bathroom they want, I don't care.
What i was trying to say in my post is that this is such a simple law to have. Its been this way for years and should be no debate.
Men use mens room, women use womens room.
If your trans, use whatever bathroom you want. Just be curtious of other people.
If you clearly look like a man, use the mens room. If you clearly look like a woman, use the womens bathroom.
There doesn't need to be extra bathrooms installed in every building, or new law on the books.
Only common sense.

At school?

This bill was meant to mostly target schools.

My apologies.
Seems to me, that between the parents and the schools they should be able to figure this out.
What bathroom do you think that trans child should go in? Why not let them use the faculty bathroom?

The parents and the schools did.

The schools and parents worked together in the best interest of the child.

If you had a trans child, would you want her singled out? Would you want the other kids questioning why she can't use the regular kids restroom?

Would you really want it "advertised" your kid is trans? It's no one else's business.
