‘Star Wars’ actor Jake Lloyd moved to psychiatric facility

"Star Wars" actor Jake Lloyd reportedly has been transferred to a psychiatric center to deal with his schizophrenia after spending nearly 10 months behind bars. The former child star, who portrayed a young Anakin Skywalker in "The Phantom Menace," was arrested last June after he led police on a wild, high-speed car chase through two counties in South Carolina. Now, however, authorities believe he is better off seeking treatment for his mental condition than he would be if he simply continued his term in jail, TMZ reports.

Poor guy! I hope his condition has no Star Wars related hallucinations, like the guy from Rodger Rabbit did with the weasels!

I hope he gets well, and moves on from all this.

FWIW, IMHO Jake did well as Anakin in the TPM, it was Hayden who screwed it up.

No, he was just a useless character added for 'comedic' purposes like a giant retarded talking Ewok.

Poor guy, I hope he gets the treatment he needs.

I'm just surprised that "the system" is actually trying to rehabilitate and help someone, rather than just look at his actions instead of the actual person behind them.

Hope he finds the help that he needs.

More than likely, you're correct.
A couple of those theory videos, though... I just wish it were true.

Imagine being that young, and then having so many people hate on you for your role in the iconic Star Wars franchise?

That kid took a LOT of heat. People hated him, and the venom that flowed was .. intense.

He didn't just get bullied by some kids on the playground, he had sizeable factions of adult sci-fi folks slamming him for years.

My daughter asked if he ever went to any Cons as a guest star, and got us wondering how he was received. I couldn't find much

He wasn't emo. He was very believable.

As for Jake...i feel bad for him. He was a TERRIBLE actor but i feel like Lucas and the producers should have done more to keep him safe from the bad press.

Meh..i guess no one knows what really happened. Either way I feel very bad for him. Hope he can turn his life around.

Exactly. Whether he was a rubbish actor or not..He was thrown to the wolves at a very young age. Poor guy.

A mate of mine has met him several times at comicons and said we was always well recieved. He used to go to the hotel bar and hang out with him.
