It's a wonderful book and well worth reading. In some ways, Isabel Allende's Eva Luna (which ranks as one of my favourite books ever) has a similar kind of magical feel to it. But Marquez's magic takes an even more diverse path. He was an absolutely pure story-teller, who always led the reader along winding forest paths that took detours here and there into mystical glades of hidden wonders. He was truly a very special writer and it's sad that he is no longer with us.

Aaah, it was all a dream. I liked the plastic husk idea, that we discard our shells every time we go round again, which is a bit poignant, really.
