The 360 shelf life isn't great anymore considering all the software updates they've done.

Most of the older generation 360's are starting to give out just past the 5 year warranty mark.

I've repaired several in the last few months for the same issue.

It's most related to the CPU getting too hot cause the heat sink glue is gone.

To ensure my xbox always has proper ventilation, I took apart my 360 and left the casing off. So the fan and sink are allowed to breath properly. And much easier for dusting purposes. Had my 360 Elite for 5 years and no problems ever!~

Edit...tho the 360 doesn't look neat with the casing off of it...the point is that if there are any problems with disc drive or if it needs dusting the access is much easier to get to! More convenient but looks ugly without casing hahah

How old is it. I've had to take off the heat sink and remove the desiccated thermal bonding compound. After removing and cleaning the processor to a polish I applied fresh thermal bond and reattached the heat heat. Worked for years since. The bond has a lifetime.

P.S. What tenth said apparently
