For some reason I feel like if the lady was an atheist instead of Christian you would be outraged.

But your allegations that she was trying to convert her coworker are just as much speculation.

When the neighborhood Jehovah's Witnessses showed up at our door years ago, my sister was nice and took their stuff instead of simply saying "No thank you, we are Methodist." The JWs assumed she was indicating interest in their beliefs and kept coming for a time until my mother could set them straight.

But they weren't harassing anyone. My sister simply had not indicated a lack of interest.

It's a very simply thing to do. You say no.

Now, it may cause your eyes to drop out of your head, but as it so happens, if the Muslim woman indicated that she was not interested in the religious advances and they continued after that, then she does have a case for harassment. The Christian should stop. But until that happens, there is no way to know unless lack of interest is communicated.

Its not that hard, keep your silly religion out of a workplace, if you feel the need to bring a bible to a co worker, you might want to change jobs.

The poor christians, must be real tough in this day an age to be one lol.

For some reason I feel like if the lady was a Muslim trying to convert a Christian you would all be outraged and foaming at the mouth about creeping Shariah and the "invasion".

Thats funny pill man. Actuallyh they were both in the wrong. The CHristian lady WHo knew from the woman speaking of religon what her relgion was by GIVING her a book of another Muslim woman converting. And the muslim woman for being a absolute bitch when simply saying no thank you would had sufficed.

I DISPISE People who go run off to HR when all it takes is them telling you No thank you. now Certain things HR is good to use but for something such as this? no. Attention whore trying to get someone in trouble because her Bias.

This right here, tells me there's more to the story.

She added: “There is a huge and increasing pressure on Christians to hide their identity and not make their views known for fear of being punished or losing their jobs.”

The article at the end is mentioning :

“There is a huge and increasing pressure on Christians to hide their identity and not make their views known for fear of being punished or losing their jobs.”

I do not have the full picture to fully form an opinion, but maybe her "colleague" used their "religion-discussions" they had in order to advance her own career ? .

Whatever the case in my opinion there is more to the story.

Peace

So if I said " O read the Bible, to learn about God, Jesus", the other corner would explode like a magical spell, summoning pig demons, and a dark figure, that should lose it job, but if I said, why don't you read up on Jesus the Prophet, who is the Son of Allah it would fine and dandy wouldn't it.

The workplace is not a place for proselytizing.

That sums it up.

Yeah we should all just wear orange jumpsuits and not even talk each other at work.

It was a book for Heavens sake.

Did the Muslim ever say "No?"

If not, then how could the woman know her advances were unwelcome?

It's like a man who flirts a bit with his female coworker. She smiles, laughs, talks with him and never really indicates that his flirting is unwelcome. So he one day tells her she is attractive and asks her out.

The next day, he is called into HR and fired after they show him an eight page complaint letter alledging that he's been sexually harassing her all this time. How was he to know?

It seems that the only things that 'offend" folks are the 3 things that Betty Manners warned Us about. Betty said "For polite conversation, one must refrain from talking about sex, politics and religion™..." So if You want to speak w/Your co-worker don't mention any of these 3 things, it isn't that tough...

And if someone wants to talk (I really mean argue or get some spiel) about any of them then You say "No thanks, I don't talk about those 3 subjects in mixed company..."

This of course means You have some 'depth' and a true connoisseur of fine conversation, You can chat about anything w/the exception being those 3 subjects...

UNLESS: You catch a Senator who is a Deacon at His Church™ who is cheating on His Wife w/3 men and 4 women, at the same time, then have at it, scream it from the top of Your lungs....

OK, that's a fine rule of thumb, but my basic question is still unanswered:

Did the Muslim woman say "No, thanks. I don't talk about any of those three subjects in mixed company?"

If she didn't, then how was the Christian to know? Communication is a two way process looking something like this diagram:

What I keep asking is was there any feedback indicating that the message was unwelcome to the receivers?

I can say that i might not like some of your opinions, but you have the will to defend it, cheers to you and yours.

I hate to say it but my patience with these situations is wearing extremely thin.

Instant suspension without pay for both parties.
Security escorts both parties off the premises.
Straight on the phone to the legal department and sue the pair of them for every penny for every single last, tiny thing they ever did, Including stealing a paperclip from the stationary cupboard.

These "ladies" are supposed to be working. They tell us there's a problem with staff shortages, training issues, budgetary issues and all sorts of things which should not be going wrong. Yet here we have two alleged adults letting their personal problems interfere with their ability to fulfill their contracted obligations. They are clearly both a liability and I would probably get the lawyers to go through their applications for employment. There's a good chance they both lied in order to get their jobs and cannot act in a professional manner.

I bet there's some really great people crying out for those jobs who would be more than capable to get stuck in, no nonsense, reliable and honest. Its a damn shame.
