Look at it like this.
A single person makes 65,000 dollars. They will pay approximately 20k dollars in 'taxes'. This is just FED and FICA. They then pay about 1000 a year
for single healthcare coverage.
A third of a persons pay goes to taxes and medical insurance. If they are not covered they pay a penalty so there is nothing for a single person to
benefit from.
So, with Bernies Plan, I would pay the same FED and FICA tax. However, I have to pay 2.2 Healthcare tax and the employer pays 6.7. So, if I am single,
and make 65k, I would be paying MORE for my healthcare as well as taxes.
The 6.7 they will impose on businesses? That covers about a 1/3 of a common premium these days so where will that extra money come from?
We do not need more taxes. We need Healthcare reform and the ability to create competition.
