Bernie is a socialist. He's running as a Democrat to have access to those resources in order to mount his campaign. If it only took Hillary this long to figure that one out, then she's really not smart enough to be president, but I suspect she's always known that and is just playing it this way because she simply doesn't have the courage to admit she'd really like to be very much like Bernie in policy. She just doesn't have the guts to tell the world what she really thinks.

So ... 2015 - present -----> Democrat.

1980 - 2015 ----> Independent (Or Young Socialist, if you go back far enough)

What happened in 2015 to balk a 35 year trend?

Oh. He started running for President.

Blah blah blah

"Hillary is poop."

SSDD.

Bernie is an Independent and has been one for 35 years.

Had he run as an Independent, as someone else noted, he would deserve more respect.

Really, you just can't resist any opportunity for drive-by-Hillary-bashing, can you Kets?

*sigh*

Look, Obama managed to get the ACA through, and that was about it in 8 years.

If anyone thinks Sanders is going to dramatically change America, they're deluding themselves. Seeing as how the GOP loves to play the "screw you we're not doing anything" game -- Sanders won't get much done or change much.

HOWEVER -- the ONE cause he champions is removing money from politics. BOTH conservatives and liberals like and want that. If the GOP/Republicans in congress stop him on that -- they're toast. They'd have to support him on that.

If that is the ONLY thing Sanders can get done as president -- I say it's worth electing him.

I've been burned by the DNC. I don't have any reason to trust anyone running as a democrat. I don't care how they identified once.

Trump was once a democrat proposing socialist policies.

Bernie is not as independent as you think. If he were truly independent he wouldn't consistently vote lock-step with the Democrats. Of course, he has to because he is really a socialist and so, mostly, are they now.

Hillary may not be quite as far left as he is, but her policy impulses are just as collectivist. Unlike Bernie, she hides it during a campaign to appear more moderate.

We've all been burned by all political parties.

I understand what you're saying.

What? Are you actually claiming that Bernie Sanders did not claim to be Independent from the beginning of his career as mayor of Burlington until last year when he decided to run for President?

I'm not addressing his positions; I'm making very clear statements about his PARTY AFFILIATION ...which is the erstwhile topic of thread.

I agree and disagree with you in your summation of HRC: Clinton is not "a moderate."

In fact, in the old days, she would have qualified as a centrist Republican. Strong on defense, a friend to corporate interests and Wall Street.

So he's an independent. So what. So am I, but you and I both know I am actually more conservo-libertarian and if I were running for president that would put me on the Republican ticket.

Similarly, Bernie is a socialist; stop denying it. He certainly doesn't.

At least he's honest about it.

Did you read the title and OP?

The thread is carping about Hillary's statement of fact ... Sanders is NOT a Democrat.

As to "denying he's a socialist" are you confused or otherwise compromised???

I stated, above, twice that is he is a Socialist ... really Kets ... READ.

Simply staggering irony and hypocrisy!

A woman who is running on a democratic ticket, despite exemplifying NONE, I will repeat that, NONE of the qualities or attitudes associated there with, has about as much business lambasting others for their position, as a person who self medicates using fungus from under their bathroom sink does in calling themselves a mycologist. She is as much of a democrat as Tony Blair was a Labour man, in that he was not, and neither is she. His best friend was Bush, a barely humanoid oil baby who negligently discharged his nation into the skull of Liberty with all the finesse and subtlety of a 12 gauge round to the face, and Hilary? Her best friend is the one with the most money to offer, in order to purchase favours from her later on.

Also, voting record...does this phrase mean nothing to some people?

He became a member of the Democratic Party late last year to run for the party's presidential nomination.

He's never campaigned, or raised money for, any Democratic candidate.

Whether he continues to be a Democratic when it no longer facilitates his personal ambitions remains an open question.

He's using the system to his advantage.

People do it all the time in other ways. Rich people with tax loopholes for example. Legal loopholes. You use the existing scaffolding to climb your way to the top.

So raising money is what makes you a Democrat?

So Democrats do not favor higher taxes, pushing the climate change hoax, gutting the military, single payer healthcare, increasing the minimum wage, or expanding government and welfare programs?

Wow. Who knew?

So of course Hitlery isn't doing the samo?
The truth is the POTUS you get will NEVER be the person or the promises they made.....
Hitlery is CFR all the way, and a strictly bribable big business / big crime candidate...
Bern is an unknown quantity as in (where is all the corporate sponsorship?)
Or is he keeping his options open for a better bribe later?
Who can say...?
America will get the POTUS that the Elite designate ,period...you may as well use that ballot for toilet paper ...
The election was over a while back...they'll let you know in November...

Campaiging for, recruiting, raising money, endorsing other Democrats. These are all things members of a party do.

Sanders has done none of those things. And it remains an open question whether he will in the future. Sander also didn't do these things for the various socialist parties he allied himself with.

Hillary Clinton has been doing these things for forty years.

These are just facts. They have nothing to do with which candidate you prefer.
