Whom is going to pay for all that?

Treat them like Mexico treats south American illegal immigrants and they will stop coming?

So we violate the rights of individuals, in direct contrast to the spirit and writings of the what founded the US, in an attempt to send a message to those in other countries that we are barbarians...so don't bother coming over?

You mean like the " spirit " of taking care of Americans first, and " writings" like laws, designed and written to stop unfettered immigration?

Yard I think we should embrace the spirit and writings of the founders!!!

Glad you agree!!

(Regarding Turning America into Al Bundy): How many shoes did Al Bundy have to sell during his sitcom days with "Married With Children" (to put a few spare quarters away) just to throw in the street?

Senor Trump is loco.

In the first place, this is highly unethical. People work for this money and don't send it back home for funsies. There is a reason they send it back, more than likely because they have loved ones who depend on it. Mothers, fathers, children, sick and elderly. Money that buys food, shelter, clothes and medications. In some cases, Trump might very well be cutting off a life-line to thousands of people.

He suggests no screening process, so who might he be injuring or damaging in some way? He doesn't know what the unintended consequences there might be, and how far reaching they might be. You can't blindly cut off someone's lifeline, nor blindly tell someone how to spend earned income. It approaches a sort of 'blackmail".

~How is this enforceable? Even if the wiring process - Western Union - folds and decides to honor the directive, then what is to stop them from mailing money? Should the USPS be required to go through every piece of mail addressed to the countries south of us? It's not feasible; it won't work, and it shouldn't work. He doesn't want to be a policy maker or a negotiator, he wants to be a King. A king who blindly makes absurd policies without considering repercussions around the table, with impunity and unyielding control.

Fools rush in where wise men fear to tread.

Ahem"Those who DARE WIN" if you want words of wisdom. Its easy to track western unions. if it wasnt then how do you think they deliver those constantly without screw up? Trump needs to take legally here mexicans and have a bill made to allow them to send money alone. verify the senders immigration status by their drivers license number and SS card. what take 3 mins to check?

MAil checking is done by machine these days so the USPS woudnt really have a issue.
If a illegal trys to send a WU then they should be held and turned over to ICE.
I dont care if they got a family back home. same as they dont care about mine.

The proposal could 'cause enormous damage to the Mexican economy' - erm, yes, that's the whole point. Is Obama really that stupid and weak?

If the whole point of the wall is to cause damage to the Mexican economy wouldn't that encourage more illegal immigration into the US?

You can't use rational thinking with these people. When you're dealing with Trump supporters, you're dealing with the lowest common denominator mouth breathers. You can't expect these people to take future implications into account.

How about the future implications of continued mass illegal immigration?

There is the (hidden plan); American Corporations continue to build factories in Mexico and eventually employ EVERYONE; there will be no reason to cross the border into the US, as there will be NO job opportunities LEFT here. There is the other plus; certain areas of Mexico get an infrastructure; roads, potable water, sewage systems and housing (those employees are not going to be living in tent villages). Its all good (not our welfare state but ones the Corporations invent *factory towns*) that used to exist here in the late 1880's and 1920's.

It is what it is, and it's better than the extremes.

You don't burn a house down because it needs a new coat of paint. This appeal to extremes shows how shortsighted Americans have become.

Are things perfect? No.

Can the be fixed? Sure.

What is unethical is Obama IGNORING US laws to pad his parties voting base.

After all why do people have to obey the law he created the ACA

When He and his party blatantly ignore other US laws.

So i heard US dollars are actually worth more in Mexico. Like if you spend a dollar here you get a McDouble but if you spend a dollar there you get a BigMac. Can anyone verify?

Is he referring to Western Union? That is how most remit the money to Mexico, wired. That is a private financial service company. How can he control it?

All the laws I could find were about consumer protections, not limiting the transactions or tracking the companies.

So he would have to get passed a new set of laws.

By making it a law in order to remit money, you need a social security card and a valid state ID.

It's not a bank regulation, just a law to make sure only citizens of the US or people here legally can send money.

Obama, speaking to reporters in the White House briefing room, said that doing so could cause “enormous” damage to Mexico’s economy...

Honestly...who gives a shift about the Mexican economy when the US economy is in turmoil??? Time to bring back jobs and labour to this country where it belongs! Hoorah
