Yeah..... That's how they look when I'm done.

I go hard when I put in work.

Looks like piece of plastic wrap that might have snagged on a screw or cable. Had that happen just the other day when installing a new washing machine. The plastic sheeting snagged on one of the screws on the bottom. The sheet came off minus a tiny bit that tore off.

Looks like a small plastic bag that's been torn open on the side. BUT, am I the only one who see's what "appears" to be something still inside it, in the middle?

I thought it was Canada. ATS link: Are the Mars Rovers actually in Canada?

And yes, that does look like plastic or a foil bag (for storing food stuffs)

It's in Baffin bay, but the guy who wants to cry fake says Greenland...so be it.

However there is an important point to consider here, you can't always take things for granted, NASA pictures can and do get dicked up, not necessarily by NASA, but I wouldn't exclude them entirely. I tried to make a decent thread on just that a while ago, and it ended up in the hoax bin, but that's the way it goes, some you win etc.
However when it comes to something important like Curiosity, pictures that have been dicked up in the past are ammunition for those who would say everything is fake, and that's a shame when Curiosity is a tremendous achievement.

So, a couple of things about the plastic, NASA took a picture of the plastic, then they had to do some guessing, so I think they reckoned that it occurred when a soil shaker was in use..whatever, but it was the first time the soil sampler scoop was in use, and according to the routine, they would be tests for the system to make sure there were no contaminations in any samples from the Curiosity build on Earth. The simplest explanation is that a cable wrap didn't get completely removed, or that it was all removed but a piece got caught by static somewhere, and went to Mars. What I don't see, is that material as being a piece of hardware.

I'm sorry!

This image from the Mars Hand Lens Imager (MAHLI) camera on NASA's Mars rover Curiosity shows a small bright object on the ground beside the rover at the "Rocknest" site. The object is just below the center of this image. It is about half an inch (1.3 centimeters) long. The rover team has assessed this object as debris from the spacecraft, possibly from the events of landing on Mars.

Pretty sure this has been posted before and was explained as being a piece of the craft that carried the rover down or some piece of shielding... it doesn't look like a plastic bag to me, but most certainly either a part of the rover or it's landing craft.

I should have read through all the posts, but I had a phone call and was just making sure I got the information out.

It looks to be formed..... with a vertical split/fold in the center, and horizontal ridges left to right. It looks manmade.

I agree. It's a alien condom that failed. We know so little about visitors to Earth..let alone Mars.

So cool, wish it was something alien!

Mind you, NO way that they don't know every single piece of material for that mission, they should be able to name it.

It's clearly just piece of a weather balloon. Nothing to see here. Please pay attention to our hundreds of other photos of space rocks.

You guys have to pay for those crappy plastic bags!! Outrageous.

That pic looks like the remains of a piece of melted plastic that might have fallen off one of the dozens of craft who've been to Mars. There's supposedly nothing there to see, but everyone can't wait to send probes to see nothing. I don't get it.

Anything to avoid sending another manned mission to even the moon, I suppose.

Anyone care to wager on how many decades till a human ventures as far as the moon ??

Every space program seems to be going in reverse faster than before.

I would guess once all the people who lived through Apollo are gone and then another 30 years at least.
