I believe music is the harmony of the "soul"

I wanted us to share the most meaningful songs whether they make us cry or give a deep philosophic understanding.

The point of this thread is to give a little part of me and you, in a rhythmic harmonic way.

perhaps we will understand each other a little better.

I will share two songs close to me, and i hope you do the same.

beautiful song that speaks to me whether i am looking up or looking down...

Led zeppelin, "that's the way" - speaking about many race issues. Issues that we cannot change (that we were born with), that we should never be judged because of . Mind you, I condemn social justice warriors, but I believe that this speaks to us all.

Morning Tech!

I LOVE your two choices...interesting...

Here's two from me, although I imagine I could make an endless list.

And this one when my spirit needs to remember that everyday is a new day!

Have a great day!

I'm really enjoying this thread. Lot's of great choices and I'll make a playlist based on these suggestions. Thanks TechniXcality and Everyone for the great picks.

Here's a couple I like. The first one is great for singing along with and picks you up if you're feeling down.

And here's one that puts things in perspective.

Great idea for a threath

I will share this one with you:

I love the way this song keeps building up to the end, and its theme is very well fitted for this site.
Most people seems to think this song is about pedophilia, but i think it goes must deeper than that, and is essentially about abusing power and and removing the "lampshade" to reveal the truth - i will include the lyrics aswell:

Kashmir - Lampshade

you'd be surprised if you looked through the eyes of a nova
not recognizing the molehills on top of the star
cheerful and swollen he waves from his seat in a rover
that is his car

you wouldn't doubt him shake the most powerful hands of importance
changing the world as we know it by leaving his ink
to judge from the fence 'round his house he must love all his children
that's what you think

but there's no time to think
have a pill and a shrink
just don't show us how you sweat
making love to your kids
is the last love that you will ever get

you're a vanishing image of what I thought I knew
but it comes to show
that the man I know -

is kissing that cheek that she had lifted up for her forty first birthday
love is when someone you trust cuts a smile in your face
boy had a dog and poor girl had a stroke like an earthquake
now dog is a bird

but there's no time to think
have a pill and a shrink
just don't show us how you sweat
making love to your kids
is the last love that you will ever get

you're a vanishing image of what i thought I knew
but it comes to show
that the man I know
has a fading glow
in a white lampshade

tell me lamshade the truth did you cover his soul
did you protect all the horrible
I shall tear you apart so that everyone knows
what he's been carrying around

tell me lampshade what is it you're trying to hide
under your stinky old corduroy
I shall rip and be shattered by the shrapnell of light
that I've been choking on always

there's a dog barking close within the range of my ear
sounds like he wants to escape the chain
he would probably bite me to death if he could
but the chain lets me spit in his face

like the dog has a chain clinging tight to it's neck
this man is tied to his secrecy
I would like to have killed him off in this last verse
but instead I removed his lampshade

Thanks to all who shared their music, now i know what to do the next couple of hours

Especially love the lyrics for fade to black.

Life it seems, will fade away
Drifting further every day
Getting lost within myself
Nothing matters no one else
I have lost the will to live
Simply nothing more to give
There is nothing more for me
Need the end to set me free

Things are not what they used to be
Missing one inside of me
Deathly lost, this cant be real
Cannot stand this hell I feel
Emptiness is filling me
To the point of agony
Growing darkness taking dawn
I was me, but now hes gone

No one but me can save myself, but its too late
Now I cant think, think why I should even try

Yesterday seems as though it never existed
Death greets me warm, now I will just say good-bye

Yeah always resonated with me as someone who even being somewhat youthful still has always had very little passion for life and an unhealthy fixation on my own death.

Also how could I forget.

See the animal in his cage that you built
Are you sure what side you're on?
Better not look him too closely in the eye
Are you sure what side of the glass you are on?
See the safety of the life you have built
Everything where it belongs
Feel the hollowness inside of your heart
And it's all
Right where it belongs

[Chorus:]
What if everything around you
Isn't quite as it seems?
What if all the world you think you know
Is an elaborate dream?
And if you look at your reflection
Is it all you want it to be?
What if you could look right through the cracks?
Would you find yourself
Find yourself afraid to see?

What if all the world's inside of your head
Just creations of your own?
Your devils and your gods
All the living and the dead
And you're really all alone?
You can live in this illusion
You can choose to believe
You keep looking but you can't find the woods
While you're hiding in the trees

This looks interesting and I will be back with a few songs though in a minute I will edit one into here.

Lyrics to the song above:
The time I think most clearly, the time I drift away
Is on the bus-ride that meanders up these valleys of green and grey
I get to think about what might have been and what may yet come true
And I get to pass a rainy mile thinking of you
And all the while, all the while, I still hear that call
To the land of gold and poison that beckons to us all
Nothing changes here very much, I guess you'd say it never will
The pubs are all full on Friday nights and things get started still
We spent hours last week with Billy boy, bleeding, yeah queuing in Casualty
Staring at those posters we used to laugh at:
Never Never Land, palm trees by the sea
Well there was no need for those guys to hurt him so bad
When all they had to do was knock him down
But no one asks to many questions like that since you left this town

Ch: And tomorrow brings another train
Another young brave steals away
But you're the one I remember
From these valleys of green and the grey

You used to talk about winners and losers all the time - as if that was all there was
As if we were not of the same blood family, as if we live by different laws
Do you owe so much less to these rain swept hills than you owe to your good self?
Is it true that the world has always got to be something
That seems to happen somewhere else?
For God's sake don't you realise that I still hear that call
Do you think you're so brave just to go running to that which beckons to us all?

Ch: No, not for one second did you look behind you
As you were walking away
Never once did you wish any of us well
Those who had chosen to stay
And if that's what it takes to make it
In the place that you live today
Then I guess you'll never read these letters that I send
From the valleys of the green and the grey

Hot off the presses; Just released. Normally, I would go with Immortal Technique.

^ Hold On To Ya Soul: This one remixed the song from Lost Boys. Its such a Masterpiece.

^ The Devil's Deal: This one just rocks, but you gotta pay attention to the words to understand. But if you don't already know Krayzie Bone, you probably wont be able to. Both off his new album Chasing the Devil. Light years ahead of the trash they play on the rap radio. No wonder people hate rap. I hate it too. Because the radio is garbage and refuses to play the real, talented artists. Such has happened to rock too, just not as bad.

Fairport Convention with the late great Sandy Denny singing Thompson's 'Meet on the Ledge'

We used to say
That come the day
We'd all be making songs
Or finding better words
These ideas never lasted long

The way is up
Along the road
The air is growing thin
Too many friends who tried
Were blown off this mountain with the wind

Meet on the ledge
We're gonna meet on the ledge
When my time is up I'm gonna see all my friends
Meet on the ledge
We're gonna meet on the ledge
If you really mean it, it all comes round again

Yet now I see
I'm all alone
But that's the only way to be
You'll have your chance again
Then you can do the work for me

Meet on the ledge
We're gonna meet on the ledge
When my time is up I'm gonna see all my friends
Meet on the ledge
We're gonna meet on the ledge
If you really mean it, it all comes round again

Meet on the ledge
We're gonna meet on the ledge
When my time is up I'm gonna see all my friends
Meet on the ledge
We're gonna meet on the ledge
If you really mean it, it all comes round again
