According to german media they divorced in 1994 and the last time he was in Cyprus to visit the kids was in 2012.

The last time a hostage crisis was going on in Cyprus involving Egyptians, the Egyptians decided to send commandos to Cyprus, without the approval of Cyprus' government. That resulted in 15 Egyptian commandos killed, 15 wounded, 1 Eygptian C130 destroyed, and no Cypriot forces killed or wounded.

Thankfully Egypt isn't lead by morons this time, and relations between the two countries are normal and somewhat positive actually.
