The latest reports are that this story was on ice before the Florida Primary / Super Tuesday Primaries.
It was to be used for Marco Rubio's benefit and then he messed up so it was no longer useful (in fact the opposite) for the establishment to use it.
It seems (not clear) that Roger Stone, using his contacts, got hold of the story and has pushed it.
The latest I have heard is there are several videos of Cruz leaving hotels in the morning with different women (on Tuesday's and Thursdays weekly), as well as a regular restaurant jaunt. Now it may be that these were regular scheduled meetings and they were just staying in the same hotel and eating together.

What is clear is that all the 'actors' in this - Cruz, Trump, Stone, the women - are very very quiet today compared to normal. I think we can be sure that more is going to come out. Not sure which way the wind is blowing - could be good for Cruz or bad, same for Trump.

We've got a long run in to the Wisconsin Primary for this to play out.

The thing is that the lies and bias of the MSM are only clear if you take the time to examine things in greater detail and use a few sources from the right , left and moderates. When you do that and then watch CNN or FOX or MSNBC etc armed with information you sit stunned at how bad those MSM sources are and how clearly they are trying to manipulate.

The problem is that 99% of people do not properly arm themselves with information prior to seeing the MSM take on things.

From all I've read today...This was a grand scheme by Rubio goons and establishment Republicans to take out Cruz and install Rubio...then Rubio got blown away by Trump in Florida, so they shelved the story because Cruz was all they had left to support against Trump.

What I'm not certain about is WHY the story was taken off the shelf again and green-lighted...now that Cruz was showing some life again after winning Utah.
Could it be that the establishment was looking to build up Kasich (someone they'd prefer) instead of Cruz?

Or...could it be that after the 'wives' fight between Trump and Cruz...the establishment saw an opportunity to pit Trump & Cruz into a death match...again elevating Kasich or guaranteeing neither get the proper amount of delegates to get the nomination.

Establishment Republicans truly appear to be behind this entire situation.

Republicans get really angry at sex scandals - but does Donald Trump have some skeletons in his closet, too? This could get interesting.

Considering the recent events with Gawker losing such a big case, you would think NE would be very careful with this type of story. Either they have the evidence or they will be sued into oblivion. Cruz is a lawyer after all. The next primary isn't until April 5 so we have more than a week for this to be slowly revealed if it is true. A week of constant slow drip information will be devastating for someone. If they have the evidence, Cruz will be destroyed. While it is certainly interesting that The Donald is apparently friends with the owner of NE, it is not actually evidence that he planned this. Maybe he did. If it can be proven it could ruin Trump. It will certainly be an interesting 11 days.

I agree with this completely, I usually research issues through a wide variety of sources online and when I do end up watching the news, I am appalled by the obvious bias. Especially MSNBC and Fox News - they have agendas.

Here is an UPDATED synopsis of the genesis of this event.

In hindsight, whether ultimately substantial or not it is probably good this came out now rather than after the possible nomination of Ted Cruz, as this story was already pre-packaged and floating in the political ether.

Had Cruz been nominated...Hillary's political skunk-works would've eventually acquired the story and successfully used it in the General election.

The group pushing for the requested articles were seemingly all supporters of Marco Rubio.

The apparent thinking was if they could get the media to pick-up the story prior to Super Tuesday, it would finish off Ted Cruz and allow Marco Rubio to win in several key elections and states.

Unfortunately, the truth-tellers ran into the corporate side of the media enterprises. Breitbart owned by pro-Cruz Super-PAC funder Robert Mercer was one of the roadblocks. The editor, Ben Shapiro, also now being named as one of the political advocates who would not allow his chosen candidate to be ‘outed”. Shapiro is also the Editor of The Daily Wire, which is also owned by a Pro-Cruz Super-PAC team, The Wilks Brothers.

It appears Shapiro buried and blocked the story because he, along with others, didn’t want to see Cruz negatively impacted. Unfortunately, this is brutal confirmation of the type of media bias we have discussed before.

Pro-Rubio and Pro-Cruz corporate media intercepts refusing to allow sunlight upon their preferred candidate(s). (Salem Communications: Hugh Hewitt et al, NRO, Human Events, Twitchy, etc) and Pro-Cruz sites like Conservative Review (Mark Levin, and unfortunately Amanda Carpenter), Right Scoop, Red State, Insurgent etc. with an obvious reason to bury or not allow the story to surface.

Once Senator Marco Rubio lost Florida, the incentive for public airing of the Ted Cruz marital affairs was immediately diminished.

Those within the #StopTrump campaign now preferring the sexual trysts did not surface because the damage only benefits Donald Trump, a candidate they despise and are working actively to defeat.

Many of the former political types who wanted to see the story surface have now joined Team Cruz and would prefer the story have stayed hidden.

You bring up another interesting theory.

Perhaps the reason this story was squashed previously is because someone democrat-related pressured them. They may have wanted to save the big reveal just in case Cruz was nominated (when the RNC goes against the will of the people).
