How about not being a hyperbolic little sissy instead of being so upset by the words of others?

You think that's irritating?
Just wait until you find that the only negative word people are willing to use is "disappointed".
"You have just burned down half a small town and killed a quarter of the population with machine guns? I find that disappointing".

What should we say then?

I can't even remember what rubbish you all said and I feel like having a hangover?

or

Your opinion makes me feel like my ex is on her period?

Your whole OP is based on you being upset by the words of others.

Disgusting.

As others have already mentioned, Merriam-Webster says that the definition of 'disgusting' is:

: so unpleasant to see, smell, taste, consider, etc., that you feel slightly sick

:so bad, unfair, inappropriate, etc., that you feel annoyed and angry

Therefore, I think that it is being used correctly. Also, even if the meaning of 'disgusting' was limited to feeling repulsion to physical grossness, I still think it would be acceptable to use it to describe one's feelings about another person's political views. It could be used in a sort of poetic way. You would be saying that thinking of someone's political views gives you the same reaction as when you are smelling vomit or whatever the gross situation might be.

I get that it annoys you though. I'm easily annoyed so I am trying to learn to have better patience.

side question: Does your name (BrokedownChevy) mean that you are a Ford person?

Firstly, I was not replying to you. I was replying to berenike's post about alternatives to the word "disgusted".

Secondly, the premise of your thread was you crying in your oatmeal about people using a word too often.

Thirdly, you should be thanking me for providing a list of alternatives to the word you detest so much.

You're welcome.

No problem!

From now on I'll say "Grossed out!" or "Nauseated"

And for special situations I'll say "Deeply disturbed"

if you like me to participate

"Make me want to yack"

If you want me to be quiet .. just shut it down so I know what phrase you would like to hear next I can go either way it's all up to you what way we communicate

Or simple "bleh"

I always was told disgust is the feeling of being offended and sickened by something

For example when I read THIS I feel disgusted in a certain country.

I am literally disgusted that you would try to make me use other words.

I could care less.

This is my pets peave

all of the sudden you try to do this to us.

You make this thread as a beckon call to change us

We are drownded in this forced change on this faithful day

It is heart-rendering to read your words in disgust of ours.

I would of changed my ways. But this is too much fun.

I thought you took a swipe that should have been aimed at me - if it was a swipe.

I ignored the post because the wording is so ambiguous. Was it insulting or just supposed to be another alternative to 'disgusted' ?

Anyway, we were trying to help so deserved no condemnation, but let no good deed go unpunished

btw - did pot & kettle spring to your mind too?

There was no swipe aimed at you or anyone else. My apologies to you if you took it that way.

It was simply a continuation of the list of alternatives to "disgusted".

No insult intended.

So Sorry.

When I said 'took a swipe' I meant as in 'taking one for the team' NOT aiming one at me

I felt you had been unfairly treated so wanted to show a bit of solidarity.
