What next - police state, snoopers charters?

Already police levels are being increased across Europe, various agencies meeting COBRA here in the UK (always thought that sounds like a gang of baddies from a bad Hollywood film) and talk of further increased security, watching others in public etc

Now that all sounds fine in theory but the way things seem to be heading how long is it going to be before it's "papers please" to move around our major cities and transport networks?

Will be watching to see what new legislation is rushed through on the back of this, if any.

Life seems to be heading towards one of those dystopian futures we see so often in sci fi novels and films.

Not sure how you move to a police state because some loonies like killing civilians. Clearly though, a State (the UK) needs to take action to avoid and disrupt people who like to kill.

There's enough checks in the developed world to avoid a police state. In the UK police numbers have never been lower!

Gov't doesn't tend to let an opportunity to usher in new legislation go to waste.
