Seattle Police Releases 5 Photos Of Suicide Shotgun Used By Kurt Cobain

SEATTLE — The Seattle Police Department on Thursday released five photos of the shotgun that Kurt Cobain used to commit suicide.

“The department is releasing five additional photographs of the firearm, taken on or about June 11, 2015. These photos were placed on the City’s computer system on March 3, 2016, and added to the investigative file shortly thereafter,” SPD said.

The photos show Seattle police cold case detective Mike Ciesynski holding the shotgun. It’s unclear why they took the photos last year or why they’re releasing them to the public at this time. A message left with Seattle police wasn’t immediately returned.

Cobain, the lead singer of the American rock band Nirvana, was found dead at his home in Seattle on April 8, 1994.

With a barrel that long, if his shoe wasn't off using his big toe to pull the trigger I'd have questions. I live 20 miles north of the Emerald City, and remember Aberdeen's famous Son taking his life. There was a lot of controversy surrounding his death, and the circumstances have spawned many a conspiracy.

The latest documentary (Soaked in Bleach - 2015) that I recently watched also said the shotgun shell was found on the wrong side of Kurt's body.

Look I've spent years in the medical feild. Nothing is impossible. I've heard it's impossible. But. That gun is fine for the tragic events that happened.

Each my arms are 3 and a 1/2 feet.. how long are the guns in the photos?

Browning A5. I'm 5'10 and could easily pull the trigger with a tow with the barrel in my mouth.

I am guessing that the trigger to the barrel is at least 3 1/2 ft. Using a toe is the only rational explanation. Bigburgh You have some seriously long arms. Unless you meant fingertip to opposite shoulder 3 1/2ft long. I have no idea what Kurt's arm lengths were. The shotgun shell on the wrong side still doesn't fit the story unless he had the trigger aimed downward, but I guess if someone was using their toe than it would make sense. I would like to know if he was found barefoot

Idk if this is true but according to this site it appears he was found wearing sneakers

Me too. If he was found with toes free.

From shoulder to middle finger is your starting point. Use a yard stick. Then from there use the notch in the shoulder/arm. And from there use your mouth. Rember.. we're trying to separate the brainstem. So place the muzzle in the mouth.. sigh. Look this is beyond ATS forum rules.


Look at the guy holding the gun in the photos.. ask him or envision him putting the arms out wide.. it covers the whole gun.
So what kind of rifle or shot gun was used... anyone know.? A make and model will give the dimensions.

Don't include the butt of the gun. Just trigger to muzzle.

I still haven't found the make and model of the shotgun yet. It appears when Kurt was found he was wearing sneakers. The shotgun seems at least one foot too long from barrel to trigger to do it. Also we are told by the experts brought on for interviews that, if the heroin did not kill Cobain itself, it would at least have rendered him too incapacitated to pull the trigger on the shotgun.

I wonder what they base those toxicology figures on..an experienced user/addict could easily consume what would be a fatal dose to a non user and remain quite functional.. I have heard many experts who were truly clueless

Yeah but from what I read he was clean for I forget how much but it was awhile. Wow seeing that shotgun there is no way he shot himself, and I also believe he did have shoes on his feet too. If anything else comes out this might be big. I will say though I do believe he did not shoot himself, I am iffy on the courtney love involvement but it definitely would not surprise me at all.

Ok.. alcoholics and functioning alcoholics. Long time drug users. All can function at thier perspective levels.

Not saying this is truly solved either from my armchair at the moment. You brought up a good thread. I to would like mrs. Hole to admit she killed him.. at least mentally.
But when people see a gun. They see the whole length. Not a trigger to the business end.. I still give you credit. You could be right and me wrong... it's all about the reach.👍
