www.yahoo.com...

Looks like the Kurds have taken the plunge towards autonomy in Syria.....declaring a federal entity in the areas of Kobane,Jzira, and Afrin....
This has been a long time ambition of these people and they certainly deserve to have a homeland....
Their "state" is an inclusive one comprising the varied gourps that live there....
It may not last long or it may prosper....it remains to be seen what the other players do about this....

Khalil said participants in the Rmeilan meeting have approved a "democratic federal system for Rojava-Northern Syria." Rojava is a Kurdish word that refers to three distinct enclaves, or cantons, under Kurdish control in northern Syria: Jazira, Kobani and Afrin.

Khalil said participants who include Turkmen, Arabs, Christian and Kurds in northern Syria said after they approved the draft that they are now preparing a final statement that will be read later Thursday.

Nobody is happy about this in the other camps, but the Kurds have dona a lot of heavy lifting against Daesh (ISIS) and I think it looks good on them.....what say you all?

Well, that ought to be enough to start another war. No one but the Kurds want the Kurds to self govern.
And they are the ones that could be counted on to kill ISIS.

Gottcha....I agree the Kurds have to find a way to get their act together soon as possible...but im also sure they are under several different forms of manipulation by larger forces so to speak....If they can divorce themselves from that then who knows what is possible...?

Sadly they have never gotten along. While outside powers will use that, they are not the cause of it. As is this is likely what will happen to most of Syria. It will divide up into 3 or 4 states. The fact is no one group has the ability to take control of Syria and the prospect of a true unity government is unlikely. While most of Syria can agree on two things, ISIS and Assad must go, they agree on very little beyond that. Iraq is in the same boat. The Kurds have laid down the gauntlet so to speak. Knowing Assad is far to weak to anything about it and nobody else who has a problem with it is going to do anything to harm the anti ISIS/Assad coalition.

They never change over there. Freedom and peace is not in the vocabulary. Just the names of gods and all their different rules for worship.

Kurds have been screwed over ever since the Brits and french decided post WW1 they would not be getting their own state. Of all the new immigrants to the UK the Kurds seem a really decent people and their occupying states have gone into conspiracy in order to oppress them. If the Kurds can have a say in their own destiny then what on Planet Earth can be wrong with that?

Probably nothing as long as you "belong" or look the same or worship the same.

If you are a Christian, Yazidi or EVEN a Jew then you will be fine in the land of the Kurds. Nothing bad about the Kurds my friend

Are they not sunni muslims, they don't get along with anyone anyway so why does anyone care? By the way isn't ISIS sunni too? Assad is #e alawite the lowest #e of all. What a frigging mess.
So this corrected Shi'te to #e. Oh well.

Most of the Kurds I met are really good people. They've been screwed over for years as they are a minority that is porly treated. Some Kurds are Christian, some even Jews. They seem a damned good bunch to me who don't go down the fanatic route . They, like the Jews 100 years ago when they were a minority being oppressed and had no self defence need a state of the own to protect themselves when nobody else will protect them

To get everyone in Syria and Iraq to fight one another , yes indeed .

Set up an independent Kurdistan that occupies the very same land where the Greater Armenia or Greater Israel is suppose to exist ?

Israel's plan is to create many small ethnic boundaries who constantly fight with another hence leaving small Israel alone .

I know many people have this notion of heroic Kurds who have been fighting against Daesh/ISIS .

What can I say , hook , line and sinker comes to mind .

Kurds are one of the most pious muslim groups in Mesopotamia and some people think that the Kurds will unite with Crusaders against their fellow muslim brethen .

Triple Facepalm is not even sufficient to express the idiocy of this situation.

The expectation is that the Kurds will make sure the Arab , Persian and Turk are in constant fight with each other .

Bloody NeoCon dreams , typical .
