Ummm...STOP...I do not mean our cute...furry...flying friends...I mean B.A.T.s

Bacon...Avocado...and Tomato...sandwhiches

Make as you would a traditional BLT...but substitute the lettuce with sliced avocado...
I toast my bread and apply a generous helping of mayo...then I add a layer of thin sliced tomato followed by three strips of bacon...on top of that goes one half of an avocado sliced lengthwise and layered...I top that off with three more strips of bacon...another layer of tomato the other slice of mayo toast...and voila...

I just happen to be appreciating one as I post this...

Too freaking yummy...

Has anyone tried this before...?

Me too. I think the wings would be nice fried crispy and the the body would have a small amount of interesting meat on it.

Sounds wonderful! I have had avocado in some other sandwiches and enjoyed them. I'll have to try it with bacon now.

I'm relieved that you didn't mean the real bats. I think they're cute and they eat mosquitos.

Ummm...it's very tasty...make sure you put the wings...err...I mean the avocado between the bacon layers though...otherwise they tend to slip and slide back onto the plate...

You could try mice or rat with crispy bacon potato chips, very similar.

I always eat them raw or filled with tuna, mayo and lemon juice just like earlier today. Might try your suggestion one day.
Thanks

Ummm...hello Light Star...the avocado elevates the combined flavors onto another level entirely...
Be prepared though...it's a three napkin Dagwood delight...

I don't know, I think the wings would make a better jerky. Would smoking them kill the rabies?

Ummm...it depends how tightly you roll them...just remember to lick the trailing edge a tad to get a proper seal...

I've eaten crocodile pie, sheep's brains and beetles. But Avacado? that's going too far.

There is no doubt that a BAT would work-Avocado is the perfect accompaniment to almost anything-but toast is the best. Avacado smothered on toast with eggs, beans and pepper...nom nom. I guess you could throw bacon and tomato on top but the downside is you'd need a bucket to contain all the drool.

Ummm...I remember when I was stationed at Ft. Shafter in Hawaii...at one end of the drill field there was a set of bleachers...just behind the bleachers a huge tree with branches that dangled avocados just out of reach...

probably the most climbed tree on the whole island...

I'm going to have to definitely try your recipe as well...(as he wipes mayo with his third napkin)...

One of the best jobs I had when I was younger was avocado picking-you got paid to climb trees and picking them was as fun as smothering them on warm buttery toast with salt and pepper and a tin of food of your choice in the lunch break...it was culinary porn.

ummm...I think things like that are all about the moment...When I was a youngun my brothers and I would be out fishing/hiking...almost every day from sunup to sunset...We would find our lunch along the way...grill perch or bass over an open fire stuffed with wild leaks...beside the stream we just caught the fish in...Then we would bring home dinner in the form of more fish and leaks...all to the heaven smell of home baked bread and veggies fresh from the garden...

It was such a powerfully different world...a better world...but yeah I can certainly appreciate and associate with your memories...thank you for sharing them here my friend...

Yes. I do a breakfast sandwich with bacon, avocado, tomato and a fried egg. I like to whip the avocado and spread it on the bread so it does not shoot out of the sandwich when you bite down on it.

To answer the questions: Yes. Yes I have eaten BATS

Anybody else notice it is Bacon ATS???

Anyway, it is served as an open-faced sandwich at our one of our local bars. Paired with a nice Belgium quad all! Ah, yeah! I think it is kind of messy with their bread choice (croissant) so they just leave it split open.

Anybody put a BAT on their burger? Heck you could put BAT on a salad an that sounds good! BAT Dogs!

I've gone BAT sh*t crazy!!
