Good morning ATS, please find below a little gem all the way from Glenlivet, Scotland, around 70 miles from where I live. The event took place last night on Monday 29th February 2016.

News surfaced on media outlets following numerous reports from the surrounding areas.

Reports of bright white light and rumbling in sky over north of Scotland

A flash of light has been spotted in the skies above the north and north-east by dozens of social media users tonight.

A member of the Aberdeen Astronomical Society explained it was likely to have been an exploding meteor.

So there you have it, a fascinating event for you to enjoy.

Aberdeen area? Possibly a large Trump being ignited.

Sorry.

Not far. Nearer Grantown-on-Spey and Aviemore, although sightings were reported in both the North and the North East of Scotland.

That must have been a fantastic sight if you were up in the hills.

That I have no doubt. It would have been visible where I am at, but unfortunately I missed it.

Could be heat lightning.
Had 20 mins of prolonged silent flashing in the UK last year and it was one of the most perculiar atmospheric events I have ever witnessed.

edit on 1-3-2016 by Jukiodone because: (no reason given)

It's most certainly a meteor shower my friend. I've seen around 7 or 8 videos this morning all scattered around Scotland.

I posted this on another thread relating to the meteor.

Why couldn't this of happened last week, I was in the hills of the Cairngorms for a few days last week. I miss all the good stuff ... I missed the Northern lights by a week the last time I was in Scotland. I've decided when I next go to Scotland I'm gonna work out a date when I want to go and then go the week after ha

Nice vids

The part I'm almost more surprised by is that we had clear enough skies to even see it in the first place.

Sighting over Glenlivet

I would much like to have a sighting in Glenlivet followed by one in the Balvenie.

Distilleries that is.

I was in Pilochery for a night away staying in a hotel room with huge bay windows, this completely lit up the sky I thought it was a bomb or an alien invasion lol Seriously my heart dropped! The entire sky where I was went bright white for a couple of seconds
