She can obviously sing but I don't see any originality. She could compared to many artists.
I personally feel that artists such as: Kate Bush, Elizabeth Fraser and Lisa Gerrard are in a league above "Adele"

I think the public make their mind up how good they think an artist is.

Adele has sold 100 million albums ( only 3 albums produced to date )

I don't compare talent with marketing... Led Zeppelin, REM, and Depeche Mode have never had a number one single, Rihanna has 10.

Your view on talent is distorted, you need to unplug yourself.

You need to check your facts. REM and Depeche Mode have had number one singles.
Led Zeppelin where mainly an albums band.

I don't really rate her at all but she's done well for herself and plenty of people like her. She stands out mostly because it's a time where pop music is almost totally devoid of substance and is instantly disposable.

She definitely isn't a Lauryn Hill or a Nina Simone.

I think she is very talented and has an incredible voice. Her live performances that I've seen have been flawless and no lipsyncing B$ going on. I find it difficult to compare artist at her level as though they're in some competition. They're all the best at being themself.

Depeche Mode highest chart position was #4 in the 1984 UK charts and #13 in the US Billboard 100 with a song called: "People are people".
"Personal Jesus" only made an unlucky 13 in the charts.

REM reached #3 in the 2000 UK charts with: "The Great Beyond".
"Losing my Religion" reached #4 in the 1991 US Billboard 100

Well, she's no, say, Aretha Franklin or Joni Mitchell. But you can't compare apples with oranges, and with that in mind I would say that when you compare her with other contemporary mainstream artists she's very good.
