Kurds Warn Turkey of ‘Big War’ With Russia If Troops Enter Syria

Russia has promised to protect Kurdish fighters in Syria in case of a ground offensive by Turkey, a move that would lead to a “big war,” the Syrian group’s envoy to Moscow said in an interview on Wednesday. “We take this threat very seriously because the ruling party in Turkey is a party of war,” Rodi Osman, head of the Syrian Kurds’ newly-opened representative office said in Kurdish via a Russian interpreter. “Russia will respond if there is an invasion. This isn’t only about the Kurds, they will defend the territorial sovereignty of Syria.” Conflicting interests in Syria have created a dangerous new phase in the country’s five-year war, even as world powers struggle to implement a truce agreement. Turkey fears Kurdish gains along its border will morph into an autonomous state and inspire similar ambitions among its own Kurdish minority. But a ground intervention risks conflict with Russia, which backs the Kurds militarily, and would anger the U.S., which sees the group as a major ally in the fight against Islamic State. Turkey has been shelling Syrian Kurdish forces since the weekend, and Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoglu blamed them for a bombing in Ankara that killed 28 people on Wednesday.

Well it looks like the alliances are being formed in preparation for the Syrian crisis to escalate, with the latest accusations from Turkey blaming the Ankara bombing on Kurdish rebels and also the attack on military convoy earlier today things are edging ever closer to Turkey being the catalyst to ignite the fires of a World War.

Russia has said it is helping the Syrian Kurds militarily and Nikolai Kovalyov, a former head of the Federal Security Service, the main successor to the Soviet KGB, said that Russian jets would bomb Turkish troops if they enter Syria. Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said any foreign incursion into Syria would be “illegal” and the Russian response would depend on the situation. Russian airstrikes in northern Syria are succeeding in driving out Turkish-backed rebels, she told a weekly briefing in Moscow on Thursday.

Ever since Turkey shot down the Russian SU, Russia has most likely been itching for a chance at retaliation, if Turkey launch a full out offensive against the Kurds then this is the perfect opportunity for Russia to show their dominance over Turkey and claim some retribution for the downed aircraft.

Yes Russia are right to protect their ally Syria from an unlawful incursion however this is much more about revenge than the interests of Syria and Assad.

Today for the 5th day Turkey are bombarding Kurdish positions within Syria with artillery, I suspect this all being done at key targets to soften up the Kurdish forces before the ground forces move in on them.

It almost seems that a much larger war in Syria is almost certain now if things keep going the way they are

unfortunately turkey is in NATO.
anything they start, we the west, will likely have to deal with too.
rather than keep current borders designed after world war one, a whole remapping of the middle east should occur in my opinion.
it should solve all the religious problems we caused during that land grabbing exercise.

The Northern Thunder is taking Place right now in Saudi Arabia on the boarder to Iraq. Form some Sources it is said that there are about 350 000 military parsonell involded in this drill that covers Land, Sea and Air.

The Northern Thunder military exercises in Saudi Arabia with the participation of 21 countries are not a training drill for any specific operation, a Saudi Defense Ministry aide told Sputnik.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – The drills began on Sunday in Saudi Arabia’s northern region near the Iraqi border and include ground troops and the air forces from Egypt, Sudan, Jordan, and a number of other Arab and Islamic countries participating in the Saudi-led coalition against Daesh, which is prohibited in numerous countries including the United States and Russia.

System of alliances? Militarization? Nationalism? Nope, not at all like the region from which World War One was born. Should be interesting. Will be awaiting developments.

So was Georgia. Should NATO defend Turkey they would exposed as murders of Kurds and that would just prove The Serbs point that Turkey and NATO are indeed terrorist sponsors.

So no NATO wont be helping.

The West intentionally drew the countries out the way they are to keep them all fighting eachother instead of reforming the caliphate.

The ottoman empire was a threat to Europe from hundreds of years.

Europe took the opportunity to solve the problem permanently while they had the chance.

Smart move honestly!

Well the ISIS also have had to go Down in weekly wages the last two months do to the oil price and bombing. The once in the North east Syria havent been payed at all since december.

So Yeah, the ISIS are not doing to good. ISIS have gone from killing and beheading Syrians.... having to start trading common Syrians for Money in stead. In some villages People are not allowed to leave unless they pay a 1000 dollar tax.

Do to the poor state of ISIS right now.... might be the reason we see Saudi Arabia stepping up to the plate and taking maters into their own hands, instead of their proxy's.

Without the US. Saudi Arabia would have to go all in. And that would not end well for the Saudi Kindom...not agianst Russia and now a well trained Syrian army.

Reality check ;

There are 2.5 million Syrian Refugees in Turkey.

They would really love an equal fight with Asad so they can have their homes & lives back .

Not a single Turkish soldier needs to invade Syria .

Just Syrians themselves coming back to fight against Asad & Daesh .

Russia will have to kill million or more armed Syrians .

This is not what Russia wants so Russia will settle for a section of Syria while allowing Asad's opposition groups to also control other sections.
