It's not until tomorrow here. However, it's the 14th where my sweety is (15 hours ahead) so I wished her a happy valentine's day.

My wife and I had our first date on the 15 of February. So I get a pass on the hallmark holiday. With that said I had a bottle of her favorite wine available tonight, and a plan for things tomorrow.

I wouldn't dare to forget, the dog house is not big enough for me and the dog.

I didn't forget. Why? Because of the ridiculously massive amounts of advertising put into the most ridiculous holiday, if it can even be called a holiday. Its impossible to go anywhere without seeing valentines day candies, flowers, tv ads, jewelry ads, whatever, not just at the store but on the street corners. Some, weeks in advance.

I don't need valentines day to do something nice or do something to show im thinking of my significant other, or show them that I love them. Or propose, how bland is that. Such a fake holiday.

I didn't forget. Neither did my hubby. We just don't celebrate. Hallmark holidays are a money grab, and how special does it really make someone feel to get flowers, gifts, chocolates the same day as everyone else? I'm outside the heart shaped box and prefer surprises of love and affection on random days. To ME, that is special.

I was at Walgreens yesterday and just chuckling at people making a mad dash for candy and cards.

Then I saw a little old man with a walking cane, walking rather shaky, with a heart-shaped box of chocolates, making his way down the card isle. It just brought a tear to my eye as I wondered who he loved so much that he would make this effort.

"move over little dog a big dog's movin' in!" ?
^ I think that was a G. Thorogood song (sp?)!

My favorite Aunt was born February 14, 1914 so...I always remember Valentine's even if I don't have a sweetie...

She always stole the limelight on Valentine's LOL!

Of course, she IS my favorite AND she IS turning 102 so...she can steal whatever she wants!

Oh, and here...

I cooked my wife's favorite dinner last night, opened a nice bottle of wine and also got her a present.

Happy wife, happy life.
