It certainly would have turned out better for poor Mr. Finicum.

Of course, then we'd be all like: Land use? What you mean?

I know it's been a long time, but I was wondering recently about the aftermath of the standoff. Though I was mainly interested in the legal status of the occupiers, I thought this article provided a suitable coda for a thread in which the question of "land use" came up:

A Mess Left by Occupiers at the Malheur Wildlife Refuge in Oregon

A refreshingly factual rebuttal to disingenuous pro-occupation propaganda, and a fitting summary of the net effect of the occupation as a whole.

Wish I could say I am surprised, but I'm not.

Ultimately, these sorts are, in many ways, about as selfish as can be imagined. It's all about them, and it matters not a bit to them who they hurt, or what they hurt, so long as they get their way.

Selfish.

Thought I should reply to this thread to update and add that seven of the prime defendants from the MNWR standoff have been acquitted as of October 2016.
