I'm not disputing that, nor am I picking sides or passing moral judgments. I think everyone is equally bonkers. What I am saying is that Russia
decided to support the regime and only the regime with air assets among other things and has achieved tangible gains in Syria. NATO has not.
While NATO ostensibly set out to destroy ISIS, they've tried to do it in such a way that the regime is removed from the picture simultaneously.
They've supported some militia's and not others, somewhat supported the Kurds, but not too much so another NATO member can bomb them, and what exactly
have they achieved? ISIS is still a real threat, the regime is in the midst of a resurgence, and the so-called moderate rebels are on the verge of
defeat.
If this is a proxy war it looks like it's going Russia's way for the moment.
