Growing older is not a curse,
nor is it a punishment,
but an opportunity to be free,
free from competition and judgement.

When you have the courage to be different
you can live openly and creatively,
to own your inner child
and to give it expression and voice.

To write things with permanent markers,
to let paint and dyes stain your hands,
to let things slip and fall and break,
to fail and to try again.

Some speak of wisdom
and truth and reality,
but is it yours?
Create your world so that you may live in it.

Give your self islands of relaxation,
mountains of vistas and solitude,
streams of purity to wash the world
from your back.

Eat of the plenty
that doesn't destroy,
show your appreciation
by leaving more for others.

Invite others to enter your world.
Encourage them in their quests for peace.
Honour others by supporting them in their journeys,
hold them and hug them and give them a kiss.

You are not under a curse,
nor being punished.
You are growing older
that you might bless others.

So many of us battle angst as we grow older. As a retired person I have so many wonderful options to join in community with others. I feel more alive than I ever have. I know it is cliche but age is a number, but old is an attitude. Thanks for stopping by!
