He was definitely instrumental in their political domination of Chicago if he met Sam And Aiuppa. Do you think Alinsky was involved in the 1960 election that Giancana delivered to Joe Kennedy?

He helped organize union people to get shadow "votes" in the correct precincts.

Not hard to do with the political atmosphere at the time.

Ok, so you can't produce any evidence, only supposition.

I suppose you require Venn Diagrams.

None of this subject is in the Left Wing media blogs.

And even the genuine historical accounts are only maybe 20% complete at best.

Do you understand what we are talking about here?

There's a lot about political mafias.

here's a start.

Chicago mafia or cooperative "Great Lakes". Obama and godfathers.

This thread may meander all over the place for a bit due to so much information needing to be put out there to research. At some point, the dots may start to come together.

Before I lose this tidbit of knowledge about Alinsky, I want to post it here on this thread.

Alinsky had a Doctor of Criminology from the University of Chicago. (I think I read he also had a doctorate in archaeology.)
He worked at a penitentiary for a while assessing inmates for parole. (That's curious.)
He was friends with Frank Nitti, aka "the Enforcer".
At the penitentiary, he occasionally found the interesting con man, one of which supposedly taught him the "trade secrets".

If you're going to post accusations or insinuations in a public forum some form of evidence is required. Venn diagrams also equal supposition. I've played that game with the JFK assassination, UFO mythology, and the Octopus cabal for years. It makes for interesting reading, but conclusions are highly speculative. Seeing as most of your links are from the right-wing blogosphere, are are highly partisan hit pieces I pay little heed to them.

Thank you for the LinkedIn article however, I will look at it later on.

That is cool, that's what I was looking for. Now Nitti was Accardo and Ricca's front boss and had to defer to them. He (nitti) botched an extortion racket in Hollywood so they had a meeting and it was decided Nitti had to take the fall and he threw everyone out. Then he blew his brains out on the traintracks and everyone did time. Ricca had connections, extremely important friends, and they all got early parole. Sparked a scandal, but they got out. Ricca had a deportation order out on him for like 20 years and no one ever enforced it. Legend has it that he had a body count of 17 or so before he came to America.

This part from that article is telling...

It is a matter of no small amusement for the journalist and agitator Nicholas yon Hoffman that his beloved mentor, Saul Alinsky, learned the craft of "organizing" at the feet of Chicago's most notorious mobsters.

This is also how the Unions got strong. All classic Mafia tactics.

And put that together with politicians and .... ________.

And I know Alinsky was himself mentored by famous Mafia confidant and advisor, Jake Guzik.

A colorful character indeed.

And extremely powerful.

Had his hand in and out of many politicians' pockets.

He oversaw (and directed) many of the political payoff schemes I believe.

He was strong and highly trusted even though not full Mafia because he was not Sicilian.

This is a conspiracy forum.

But I understand your skepticism.

This is the Mafia we are talking about. More specifically the old school Mafia where people took their vow of Omerta seriously. It's not like there was an appointed mob historian to keep track of Mafia history.

Most of the information was gained through criminal investigations and people probably wanting to tell their stories after out living their crew or whatever.

If you're looking for verifiable accounts good luck, but there isn't any reason to believe that Alinsky wasn't a liaison between the Unions and the Mob considering how Unions were all about community organizing.

To be correct it was called the Outfit in Chicago, Mafia is a word that they never use.

If he lived in Chicago and was involved with politics he would have dealt with them as soon as he became well known he'd have been approached. But I bet he kept his distance as much as possible.

In today's cartel of white-collar 'mobsters', especially political players, how common do you think it is for them to use code names to pass information back and forth?

a reply to: queenofswordsCode names? I don't know, it's not anything like it used to be. Video poker, strip clubs, I am sure they make money but I would imagine phone talk would be at a minimum with burner phones like everybody else. The Ndrangheta and the Camorra in Italy are more powerful kind of like the cartels south of the border but in Europe. The fbi ruined the American families but terrorism gave them a little break so they could be making a quiet comeback.
