"If we don’t have borders, we don’t have a country. We need to BUILD A WALL that will keep illegal immigrants out."

www.youtube.com...

This is a great video that is directly from his book. He is not against immigration or Mexico. He said build a wall to stop illegal immigration and why not. This is not just about illegal immigration but drugs and illegal arms shipments and other types of smuggling that needs to be stopped. We need to get ICE the resources they need.

Treating people fairly? Did he just say that...yes, he was right about immigration and it is a hot topic.

Why should there not be a wall and why do voters think we could not build it?

Because they tunnel under, fly over, sail around, and cross through the 'doors' hidden in the back of trucks.

Big Agro wants cheap labor, thats never going to change. His wall answer isn't an answer, part of the Trump fallacy.

Why not just rig them up with exploding collars like the movie Deadlock? If they want in without their heads blowing off, they need the deactivation codes and the only way to get them are to go through immigration. Yes, I am being mildly sarcastic.

Why should there not be a wall

Because it the most expensive and will likely be the least effective method you can use to stem the illegal immigration tide.

All it would be is a expensive dramatic gestures,

There are better albit less dramatic things the USA could do.

People will likley tunnel over it, sail around it or climb over it.

UK has 20 miles of ocean and heavly guarded entry points round ports and the tunnel. Doesnt stop illegals getting through to us. So a wall wont stop the USA illegals.

Your in what $18 Trillion + debt.

Not exactly the time for Expensive grand gestures that wont work.

Better to go with cheaper but effective methods,

Enforcemnet of laws banning the employment of illegals.

Immediate deportations for any illegals caught by police for any reason even if not charged.

Tighting of wellfare laws.

With all the major problems we face today some people are still mesmerized by Trump and his stupid wall as their main concern. What a complete waste of time and money.

Hey OP, did you know more illegal immigrants are leaving the US than entering it? How about we focus on more important issues?

A walls a great idea, it'll keep out all the people who don't know how to climb over a wall.

Or tunnel under, or sail round it or fly over it..........

So it will keep out any one with a IQ under 75, the same IQ of people that think a wall will be a cost effective solution

What if illegals and drugs drove or trekked across the Canadian border? Let's build a wall there too.
What if illegals and drugs sailed across our Atlantic and Pacific borders? Let's build a wall there too.
What if illegals and drugs flew into the USA? I say build one huge dome.

But Agro labor is legal through the visa guest worker programs right?

True. I have seen, and I can't remember where, people commenting about the profits of ladder companies going up and the engineering of bigger ladders.

Because that doesn't solve anything.
It is a horrible plan and one of the only plans Trump has even said publicly.
People are going to get around the wall, they already do.

Build a wall around Trump.

And make him pay for it.

Won't work.

He'll just buy it and then tear it down.

More Mexicans Leaving Than Coming to the U.S.

More Mexican immigrants have returned to Mexico from the U.S. than have migrated here since the end of the Great Recession, according to a new Pew Research Center analysis of newly available government data from both countries. The same data sources also show the overall flow of Mexican immigrants between the two countries is at its smallest since the 1990s, mostly due to a drop in the number of Mexican immigrants coming to the U.S.

www.nytimes.com...

Indeed this is true, however if a President was able to actually help the economy then this trend would shift.

“We know that crossings are definitely down and we also know it is much more difficult and costly to cross now than it used to be,” said Ana Gonzalez-Barrera, a Pew research associate who is the author of the report. The United States’ slow recovery after the 2008 recession, particularly in construction and other low-paying jobs where many Mexicans had worked, is also a factor, she said."

So I guess the questions should be the following;
1.) Did Obama restore the economy or not? According to the Pew Research folks he hasn't.
2.) How should the next POTUS respond to illegal immigration, if they were able to repair the economy?

Solving a complicated situation like illegal immigration with a simple solution like a "wall" is a recipe for disaster and a fantastic way to invite FAR more problems into the equation than you had originally.

Fantastic.

But that doesn't say "illegal" immigrants that you eluded to.

The bureaucracy involved in such a task would be immense. Walls have rarely worked.
