Most don't start the neolithic in the British Isles until 4000 years ago.

But there is a new find in underwater archeology that pushes back the date to 6000 B.C.E.

Around the sunken coast at the Isle of Wight, they have found warm weather aegilopoides einkorn wheat. All einkorn wheat originates in Turkey. But it is a cold weather einkorn that spread along the Danube into Switzerland.

What is found on the sunken coast of the Isle of Wight is not the cold weather species, but rather the warm weather species variety.

Either way, einkorn wheat is not a native plant to the British Isles, thus agriculture was brought to the U.K.

The einkorn DNA - from a substantial quantity of the cereal, most likely in flour form - was recovered by archaeologists from the Maritime Archaeology Trust from a layer of sediment which had lain buried several metres below the seabed. Associated material (mainly fragments of wood) was dated by radio carbon 'Bayesian' dating techniques to between 6010 BC and 5960 BC.

That means that schools have to push back the date of neolithic farming by thousands of years thanks to this new archeological find.

Its great knowing about the dna of the wheat etc but farms and the outlines of their fields stretching out to the Scillies was shown on the tv some years ago - so the history of our farming here is not exactly unknown. Professor Prior was debunked over when farming started up here but many didn't doubt he was correct.

We have always known that perhaps someone with the guts to do it will actually rewrite our history and tell us a lot more about it than the current accepted version. Why anyone would want to hide the history of the UK is quite beyond me, but when you have Professors from our top universities saying this needs to be done, perhaps this will jog the process along. Great thread. S&F

Kudos! This info is spreading worldwide. We are finding in America as the west coast drought has DRAINED many bodies of water and lowered lakes by many meters many new archaeological sites. There are artifacts said to be 13,000 years old found in drained California Lakes... everyday it seems we learn something new that changes history as we were told.
