Reports from various sources suggest it was a suicide bomber. This took place in the Sultanahmet area near the Blue Mosque. Post-event video footage below. German and Norwegian nationals are reported to be among the victims.

State-run Turkish broadcaster TRT says it is "likely" that a suicide bomber was behind the blast in Istanbul's central square.
And the Istanbul governor's office has confimed reports that ten people have died and 15 were injured in today's attack, which has been described as a suicide bombing targeted at tourists.

The 'blue mosque'.

Not too familiar with this tourist area, but question if if it Is too early to call 'IsIs' terrorism.

The piks define the tragedy.

Sadly..

Game of death

Both for the coward that blows themselves up and for the innocent bystander who was either simply on their way to work/school or prayer or in this case, people on Holiday/Vacation.

I have nothing but disgust for the bomber and their puppeteer and sympathy for the Innocent victims and their surviving loved ones and families.

Oh joy... yea I think its time to cross Turkey off the list of places to visit (went back in the 90s loved it)...

I hope turkey finds its way back to stability.

I winder if they will blame this on Kurdish extremists, the one last year was, and was directed at tourists. I don't know how that turned out.

I still wonder why these islamic idiots keep following this process...

Blowing up innocent people won't endear the masses to their idealistic beliefs, or generate any sympathy for their cause.

Nor will they intimidate the world to bow to their will -- that is all too evident in the solidarity we (ie: the civilised modern world) are showing by standing together in these horrible atrocities.

So what is it in their religion that says this is the BEST way forward? It's like dealing with stubborn 6 year olds in a playground, arguing over who gets to play with the sandbox toys. Pathetic.

My heartfelt condolences to anyone affected by this barbaric act...

This reminds me that WHILE the mass migrations were occurring, it was quite obviously being promoted/allowed by the globalist elites. Now we are seeing the results of it, and all is going just as they planned.

Discouraging to say the least

My heart goes out to the innocent victims; we were in the Blue Mosque area holidaying 3 years ago. After Paris, this;
how can I get off this planet?

Istanbul is a scary-weird place without things going boom.

Really, the entirety of Turkey is scary-weird.

Really, the entirety of that portion of the continent for hundreds and hundreds of miles in every direction is scary-weird.

The word terrorism was known to me only in the movies and TV until I went to Europe and traveled through Turkey and other countries in the region way back in 1982.

The area is probably scarier-weirder now.
