Playboy Mansion on sale for $200 million — Hef included

The Playboy Mansion in Holmby Hills, California, is being put up for sale by Playboy Enterprises for $200 million. But since the deal will be structured as a "living estate," any buyer will have to allow the mansion's famous resident — 89-year-old Hugh Hefner — to continue renting the house until his death.

The hell? Hef, say it ain't so! What is this? Some kind of odd marketing or is Hef in financial trouble that he wants to sell the mansion for 200 million, which I dunno, I think is really low. Could just be me.

Too bad Charlie Sheen got HIV because if he has the coin I would have loved to see him buy it!! Who would you like to see buy the mansion and be forced into having Hef as their roommate? This could make one hell of a reality TV show. Disney should buy the mansion because I dunno anyone else who can flip a dying brand around like they can.

If I am not mistaken this is not the first time there have been financial issues for Heff and his House of ho... mansion.

He's had financial issues off and on for quite some time. I read an article recently that said the mansion had a distinct "old man smell", so I guess the new buyer would need lots of febreeze... or something.

ETA - Of course I do not know if financial issues are the reason he is selling at this point. I suppose only he and his accountant know.

Why sell it? Unless he doesn't have the money to maintain it. It's got it's own zoo, lol, I can only imagine how much it costs to upkeep.

Makes sense then. He's going broke, well he may if he has to pay for mansion upkeep. I wonder where he'll live? In the main house or guess house. He probably has guest houses.

I would guess it's a way to stop the government getting his assets if he suddenly dies or has to go into a retirement home.

I am not sure how credible this source is but...

According to St. James (and many others who’ve visited recently), it’s looking a little worse for the wear and a bit depressing these days, with shabby stained furniture, broken appliances, and a distinct "old man smell".

That part would seem to me to say that he can't afford the proper upkeep that it needs. It has to cost a small fortune monthly for just the bare necessities I would think. Combine that with a bunch of partying strangers and ingrates and that price tag would have to sky rocket.
