Now, I've been laying low on this site for the past few months for several reasons, one being the absolute sheer amount of hate, intolerance,
bigotry, and ill will I've seen here lately.
I came across this article today and wanted to share it with the community because it is yet ANOTHER example that shows how the anti-muslim hate
infecting a large segment of the country seems to be increasing more than ever this election cycle.
TITUSVILLE, Fla. — The Titusville Police Department asked for help Sunday finding the person who vandalized a downtown mosque in what the
Council on American-Islamic Relations said might be a hate crime.
According to police, a man pulled a machete from a bag he had with him late Friday night and used it to slash at The Islamic Society of Central
Florida Masjid Al-Munin Mosque before leaving three pounds of bacon by the mosque's front door.
Now considering that this was actually perpetuated by a non-Muslim against the mosque with the hypothetical intent of intimidation and NOT by a Muslim
looking to stir things up as some will come in and claim, it appears that truly was a very religiously and culturally motivated crime specifically
against the Muslim community: Why? not only was a mosque damaged, 3 pounds of BACON were left there. As the article states, it could very well be a
hate crime. Why the machete, though, to make it seem like a Muslim was doing it himself, or just because the person it nuts?
“The use of pork in an incident of this type is one clear indicator of a possible bias motive for the vandalism,” said Nezar Hamze, the
Council on American-Islamic Relations' Florida regional operations director.
And many people are beginning to think this type of thing is acceptable. We hear the intolerance and fear mongering from certain politicians' mouths,
we hear it from people HERE ON ATS, and we have these nuts who decide to act on it in the real world. We've seen damaged mosques, we've seen Muslims
get shouted at simply for being Muslim, we've seen Muslims assaulted, and many other incidents. ALL of this likely stems from the hateful rhetoric
and lies we hear both from politicians' and the media's mouths.
This has all got to stop. Maybe things will chill out in a year...When the election ends. Maybe. One can hope.
This is getting out of hand. Thank goodness no one was hurt.
