I'm a sinner, I have sinful thoughts and actions. Forgive me God in the name of Jesus and purge them from me, I would really like it if it happens now but I trust your timing Lord.

But I will gladly go tonight.

Regards

I can say what I wish, if I unintentionally hurt someone, I will apologise for that hurt, even if I don't apologise for the words. That is part of being reasonable and adult during a discussion

Exacty!!!

This whole thread is about why 'those who don't agree' chime in to threads about faiths that they don't share.....
it's to present the other side of the issue/topic....

so that readers have at least some information to balance what they've read.
Hey - is that Oliver Cromwell in your avatar??

The Bishop of Myra did not have flying reindeers, a gaggle of elves that worked to make toys in the north pole, nor was he omnipresent able to deliver gifts to children worldwide.

I didn't say Santa Claus is the Bishop, I said Santa Claus was based on the Bishop with many stories/myths added.

People should be subjected to (presented with) all sorts of ideas. Your version is not so special. It is conjecture. It is not "fact."

What is FACT is that many adults use these scriptural "tenets" to terrify their kids; to teach them that people who 'don't believe what they believe' are doomed and going to this horrid, unspeakably awful place called "hell."

See, here is the thing. You have no way on Earth of knowing if it is fact or not. It very well could be. Maybe people can't prove it, but you can't disprove it either. I could say the same thing about your position being not FACT. That is one of the problems. If either side could prove it as FACT, the discussion would be over period. What if the Arc of the Covenant was found? Many Biblical cities and stories have been proven by archaeology. So, there are some facts verified in the Bible. However, proving God is not possible unless he shows himself or you have an experience that brings you to meet him. Again, you can't prove he doesn't exist.

I mentioned before that I have a hybrid and quite unusual belief system as to what God is and what the so called contacts with different being were. I still can't prove it and you can't prove it never happened. It is not provable situation unless you want to let me terminate you and bring you back later. Advanced technology allows this today. I don't have access to the necessary facilities and doubt you would even consider it if I could. So, proof is elusive for the common person.

No it's John Wesley. I did it years ago. When I started on here my kids hadn't been born and had a lot of time. Got three tornadoes of terror now. Plus I have an illness
So it's very intermittent now. But I always get a lot from it.

Ha ha my space WA popular when I started on here. Seems like a lifetime ago

The very use of "Santa Claus" and "Tooth Fairy" rather than beings like "Zeus" or "Hera" confirms it. No one ever truly thinks that Santa or the Tooth Fairy are real except for when they are very young - children. Those are infantile beliefs.

You don't understand what Buzzy is saying?

This isn't complicated - the OP is just an explanation of what it feels like to be a nonbeliever in a world that is more or less set up for believers

The person you're agreeing with called her a pseudo intellectual. They were offended - and so went on the offensive

Instead of trying to understand this position, you also went on the offensive. Why would you decide to try and explain why your God is more real than Santa?

She's not attacking your belief - she's trying to explain how she can't believe. I don't understand why you can't accept that

It's like Santa insofar as people might eventually grow up and stop talking about it, but the strangest thing is many non-believers continue to do so, to the point where they are nearly indiscernible from the believer.

Non-Christians spending their time preaching to Christians about God and church is an irony worth noting. So much devotion to contemplating God or the bible or Christians—it almost sounds like a new sect of Christianity.

No. Not really. Then you had better not get annoyed with Christians thinking the exact same thing about your lack of belief in God. See, it goes both ways! But frankly, I think Christians like it when non-Christians join the conversation. What people don't like is rudeness and a lack of class. There is proof that Santa isn't real. There is zero proof that God isn't real and actually a ton of proof that God is real. There's more proof that Jesus existed than there is proof that you yourself exist right now. That's incredible--for a person who lived two thousand years ago. You would think that if Jesus wasn't who the Bible said he was, that history would have forgotten him--considering he is either a madman or Christ. Choose one. And why would history remember some random madman? Connect the dots. Anyway, that's beside the point.

But how dare you say that Christians don't accept other people when it is you not accepting Christians? That was a stupid article. The logic was full of holes. What a load of bull. Yeah, you're being so altruistic I'm sure. Right. Then act like it. Then maybe the Christians won't mind anymore because you'll be on the same page as them. Just sayin'.

It works both ways. And I haven't seen Christians hating on non-Christians. But I have seen non-Christians hating on Christians.

I have lived this horror!

Just last week my adorable young nieces and nephews were ecstatic for Christmas and excited for the arrival of horrible Santa!

They were so happy and on extra good behavior.

It was ghastly and unbearable!

I have not left my safe space since!

Ha, yes bribery can work wonders huh? As does lying... What a wonderful message to teach young developing minds...

Christians do it everyday. Try checking out any reincarnation thread and see how far you get before some Christian comes in and tells everyone that they're following Satan!

That is hardly an example of "trying to define a Buddhist concept".
Check any dictionary; "Define" means "set forth essence of, declare exact meaning of".
It is not for me to lay down the law abour how Samsara works, if I don't believe in it anyway.
As a speaker of the English language, I'm qualified to discuss the meaning of an English word (so that I have, in the past, explained the difference between the meaning of the English words "reincarnation" and "resurrection").
But that would not qualify me to argue about the meaning of a word coined by a Buddhist teacher in one of the Indian languages.
Nor would I want to. That is the point. I would not think it my business to sort out the details of another religion in which I did not participate, and I would not be interested in trying. It would be absurd.

Reincarnation is a Buddhist concept, and Christians enter into reincarnation threads everyday to "define" it, basically, as an evil lie of their devil, among other things. They are there for one reason, to condemn its adherents and the entire concept.

Christ is a concept, not a person. The Hebrews called King Saul a Christ, King David and Solomon also wore the title of Christ as did Cyrus the Great. Pagan followers of the Eleusinian Mysteries also claimed the "Christ" title. It wasn't invented by your Jesus or by his supposed disciples.

For anyone to claim that denying that Jesus of Nazareth was/is "The Christ", whatever that even means, is to be against "Christ" (a concept) is pure and shameful ignorance! That's like saying, "If you don't believe that Yahweh is "The Creator" then you hate love!"

Certainly, isn't a "Christian" message from your savior.

LOL,

You wandered off the topic in your 2nd post, while defending yourself.

My posts made it clear that this thread is addressing people like you, who DO say, when cornered and frustrated, "What are you even doing here if you don't believe."

Your defense about you NOT going into a Buddhist threads, because you're not a Buddhist, illustrates your own cognitive dissonance. You are one the who has been off topic, defensive and the you are the one missing the OP's point.

Or put another way......they dump on Christians, then they dump on Santa.

But, odd, isn't it......they never dump on Allah.

After re-reading my previous post, and re-reading yours. I stand by what I said, but I could have been clearer, instead of making a blanket statement. There are those who do as you say, but at this point, I think the PC crowd are in the minority. Islam is not by any means being treated kindly right now in the west. Allah is being "dumped on" plenty.
