Damn this concrete slab our new house is built on!, we don't feel the quakes like we used to at the old house which was built on Piles. And could also be that we are on a river bed now, used to live on the Dunes.

I was going to write yesterday. But, whatever. We're all doomed. I guess I should be happy that I had a few years where I didn't think the world was one minute to midnight. But now I know we are.

The Cubs won. They were down three games to two, and I jinxed it by tempting the gods. Now tonight there's an election. Yesterday, oil production knocked walls in Oklahoma. The Salton Sea power plant has shut down. I must information on that, because made that up out of thin air, and want to start a rumour.

Oh, yeah, I have been watching south america. Woopee, a 5.9M. That's not big there. but it's not insignificant. Muzzy's math is about right. There's one, or sometimes, around 6 M. every month on average. So, this along with one last week, if I'm not imagining it, means we've had two sizable ones lately.

That's it. Oh, a few odd balls around the eastern United States that I noted. Just noted. Big low pressure off the east coast. Santa had an earthquake as well.

I've been drinking too much lately, so, I am sad to say, I have, stopped, and, I must continue stopping, and, I must not drink, as I watch the election results- pour in. Oh sad me. All good things need to come to an end. Every party must end. I'll party after whomever wins, and at a time, I realize the we are all aboard the deck of the Titanic. I, being a gentleman, will escort the women and children to the life boats, then, I will grab a deckchair, grab a big scotch and water, and then I will listen to band, as they use music, to end on a good note.

Oh my, I am paranoid. I am having visions. It must be the DTS since I have abstained during this election coverage. My brain is bleeding. I am joking. I don't drink enough to get the DTS when I decide to go dry for a while...

But, I'm shaky, and, so is the SALTON SEA. In my paranoid vision, they turn back on the pumps. Increase the pressure, and the fault snaps. A Trump victory can be denied due to California knock offline due to the big one. Let's blame Hillary. I am joking, I only know how to joke when I am afraid. Be afraid, be afraid, to back into the water. Jaws the movie theme music.

Imagine having to hold the election again. That is a horror story.

eric heavy drinkers must be careful when stopping drinking...heavy drinkers who stop suddenly have been know to die if they don't get a prescription medication.....the other alternative is to take the amino acid l-glutamine...it helps with the anxiety and the dt jitters and reduces the craving for alcohol

good luck to you

I wouldn't say I am heavy drinker, which is why I am stopping before I become a heavy drinker. I'm mostly trying to be funny, in my blaming this election stuff for driving me to drink.

Oh, Salton is mildly more with three in the last hour. I'm keeping my eye on it.

Eric, You forgot to mention that the All Blacks lost to Ireland in Chicago at the weekend. Not that most Americans would know about or care. Rugby is the national game for most ex Commonwealth countries and is like a religion in NZ.
This is the first time Ireland has beaten NZ All Blacks in 111 years. It was really an exhibition game to promote the game in the US, but was also a real Test Match as well on the series calender.
NZ is in shock.
What is it about Chicago? Breaking hoodoo's
A bit like the US elections. Trump is such a phony and half the US pop. got sucked in, his election campaign was a replay of Hitlers rise to power, replace the words Germany with USA and Jews and Gypsies with Mexicans and Muslims, it's the same propaganda.
Let's hope he is not the latest Antichrist!
China are rubbing their hands with glee, the USA will collapse under Trump and China will become the 2nd Superpower after Russia, and do what they please.

I correctly predicted Trump would be President. Both my kids had to listen to my polling numbers. I am not a conservative, so I do not support Trump. Also, I predicted the outcome because I ignored my own opinion and did the math. At point though, I realized I would vote for Trump. Why? Because Hillary is bad. And I mean bad from a historical context. She and Bill had a criminal enterprise in Arkansas. They laundered money, smuggled coc aine, manufactured weapons, and sent them to Nicaragua. The CIA under Reagan, made a deal with the Clinton administration.

And let's say I could ignore her corruption. I can't ignore the fact she is a hawk who would antagonize Russia until there would be a spark which could cause a broader war. Trump would pollute the environment. Hillary Clinton would evaporate the environment. America and NATO need to back away from Russia and maybe Trump can find a way to get along and not blow up the planet.

And that was some news from the political earthquake, now for the earth kind. Something hugely, bigley, tremendously, bad will happen in Europe/Turkey. Yes, Italy. But we have many other places around the Mediterranean all the way to the Black Sea.

Whatever it is, it is regional and not specific to Italy. The BBC had a good report on Italy. Apparently, it was first thrust up and now is being spread apart. I have taken a closer look yet, but when I do I was hoping to narrow down where I think the big one is coming. I have long said it would be Turkey. So, until I change my mind, Turkey will be hit soon.

Imagine the mess regional, both in human shock, and in the political shock after a big earthquake. Turkey is a mess, and the borders would create havoc on the ground in Syria and Iraq. If we were talk about a perfect storm of events that would cause a perfect disaster, the combination of political earthquakes along with real earthquakes in and around Turkey, this scenario would fit the bill.

Greece just had one and Bosnia/Herz...
It's actually in Montenegro. Last month they had some as well...

7.2Mw, Mexicali, USA-Mexico, 4 April 2010 and aftershocks
It took 6 and a half years, but I finally did a post on this series. It was even a battle to create the timeline graph on Excel, it kept stalling. Just the sheer number of aftershocks.
Due to the large number of aftershocks (25,000) it is not possible to show them all on a NZ Topo map. The Google Earth gadget shows the first 9,999 aftershocks. The other 15,010 can be viewed on Google Earth itself where the icons will load faster. On the second and third file the mainshock is shown with a gold star for reference.

I tried NZ Topo maps yesterday, split the series in to 3 lots of 10,000 events but it wouldn't load the KMZ file, and kept stalling my Browser (Firefox). To the point I went back and re wrote the entire page without the 3 NZTopoMaps. Even 3 GE gadgets made the page stall.
I don't know why this series is different than the Kumamoto, Japan page, that is at 23,000 and seems to load OK.
Even down to 1 GE gadget it takes a while for the map to load the 9,999 icons.

Wooohooo what a roller!!!
I was in bed but had already just woken up tossing and turning the we started swaying back and forth violently, no rattling or noise, felt the P wave looked out the window there was flashing in the sky (probably power transformers blowing up as we have no power now) then the S wave came even worse! heard stuff falling over inside the house turns out a CD tower fell over no other damage, our spa pool must have been sloshing there is water all around it.
Can't imagine how bad it must have been down south.

I make that epicentre about 300 miles very roughly from you.

How will Canterbury have faired being only 63 miles or so. I have to say I went cold when I saw that pop up on my screen. Various expletives followed!

New Mag 6 just as I am typing.
