Actually, he did. Well, kind of.
He certainly walked around. Except when he rode a donkey's foal into Jerusalem.
He didn't build the church, but he laid the foundation on which it was built and he appointed men to finish the job, building upon the foundation that he laid.
So, yeah, he waked around. And he was instrumental in the building of the church. So the statement is not inaccurate.
