I still ask myself this:
If you were planning this conspiracy why wait about an hour before you blow the buildings?
That gave the news media time to set up cameras and catch the explosions.
That gave rescue crews time to stumble across prewired explosives.
That gave time for people to escape.
Those escaped victims may have seen something by accident.

The smart plan would be to wait 4-5 seconds after the impact then hit the button.
Who's going to question the collapse ?
Who's going to be alive to tell what they saw?
Greater loss of life.

I think, within your question.......... you may have stumbled on the answer

That gave the news media time to set up cameras and catch the explosions.

except with whatever detonation devices used, didn't create the normal BANG, remember.....

The more eyes see the event..... the harder it is to say it didn't happen

So the world had time to watch what was coming next.

A person with minimal brain power would come to the conclusion that it wasn't a conspiracy.
Plenty of people exited/escaped both buildings before they collapsed.

So the world had time to watch what was coming next.

That is what the second building was for.

Instant collapse would be an ideal way to deflect attention away from TPTB.
Clearly the designer lied to TPTB when he said the building could withstand an airplane strike.
How many would question the narrative when you have people to point your finger at?
Go after the Arabs.
Go after the designer.
Circle complete.
No conspiracy.

Not really a conspiracist but here goes....

1) as others have said, it allows media time to get the cameras and such in place.

2) other buildings collapsed too soon and screwed up the timeline.

3) Delayed explosion (in this case too delayed) would have taken out first and second responsders, thus exacerbating damage by causing more casualties within the rescue/responder community.

Those are 3 reasons I can think of, just off the top of my head, for a delayed destruction.

Create more panic with several events over a period of time. First the planes crash in to the towers, then a short time later one building goes down and shortly the second tower. Then there's the mysterious WTC7 tower that also fell. More events to cause more fear, panic, anxiety and anger.

1. Would you want dozens of cameras recording the crime you are about to commit?
We are taking about pre meditated mass murder in a state that had the death penalty.

3. A few hundred responders vs a few thousand helpless citizens?
There were 4400 troops killed in Iraq and another 32,000 wounded.
Not much uprising for them.
But lets say 10,000 citizens in the towers. Now you have the populace behind you.

I'm still a little ambiguous about a conspiracy. However, there a few unanswered questions in my mind.

Now in answer to the OP question, one thing occurred to me: Maybe due to the massive amount of damage, including the initial impact on the building's exterior by the aircraft, the detonation system malfunctioned. So it might have taken some "sacrificial lamb" a little time to make his way back into the building to repair it, or set it off manually.

Why did the collapse of both buildings start at the aircraft impact points? What kept the "explosives" from sympathetic detonation when the aircraft hit?

They had to televise it. They needed to provoke outrage in the population so there would be little opposition to the wars they had planned for afterwards.

Because explosives have no sympathy.
Sorry I couldn't resist.

I too have wondered how they 'protected' the charges from the plane impacts and fire.
All the more reason the detonate on impact.

As I mentioned before the second plane impact would have been televised.
With the second building falling seconds after the impact there would be no question as to why the buildings came down.

Plus you would have had greater loss of life for greater support for war efforts.
I see no benefit and several pitfall for waiting.

Good one. I saw a sign once that said "There is no problem in the world that cannot be solved by detonating the correct amount of high explosives in the proper place at the correct time."

Which makes a perfect conspiracy.

building 7 ??????????????????????????????????

I hate to say this but it seems that its only Americans left that still believe the 'official' story.

Not a criticism, the global media is based there, with power like that they would fool anyone.
