No permit should be required for an activity already granted by rights under the Constitution.

"As long as it is admitted that the law may be diverted from its true purpose–that it may violate property instead of protecting it–then everyone will want to participate in making the law, either to protect himself against plunder or to use it for plunder."

I agree.

I see and read that the police departments Nation wide plunder, We The People so much so that they have stolen more then all house burglaries in this Nation.

That's right, the feds pass illegal laws to allow police to extort We The People properties, homes, cars under their forfeiture laws.

And those people who were not found guilty under the new laws, they can never get their properties back from what I have read.

This is really getting out of control and I am waiting to see how far Big Brother is going to go before Americans have had enough. We are living in Tyrannical times.

That last video reveals some sort of feud.

This is clearly not just a matter of out of control county officials.

I posted those videos after finding them, but before watching them so I too could get an unbiased look and opinions on them. That community intrigues me. I think I hit it right on my speculation about the pot growing, but I'm still looking into who's fighting for what, and if the off-gridders actually own land or are squatting. What kind of city/county resources they may be using, and what if any fees they may be paying. Lots of youtube vid's to watch, but I read sooo much faster, wish I could find the county memo's

Your right, also I now here some of the locals stating that these people living off the grid are growing Marijuana. Yet I see no evidence of this.

Yes, some of the people living off the grid "might" be growing marijuana, is this the real reason the government is causing a problem for these people?

Thanks for posting them.

I'm certainly not backing away from the general principals elucidated in this thread so far but my eyes began to roll when the videographer started grandstanding.

Why isn't everything simple? I guess that's what I love about this place.

Honestly, my impression was that the local officials wanted nothing to do with this.

I think the issue here is the right cause but the wrong people. Looking into it it's EXACTLY what I feared I would find. Trash disposal. You don't realize how big a deal that is until it's not picked up for you. Also the pot growing seems an issue, but much smaller in comparison really, more like a "they shot my dog AND spit on the sidewalk" type thing.

I have been seeing this pattern at every level of government across the country. From the anecdotal evidence, it is even worse in the UK and Europe.

Ordinarily, I would say sell your property and leave immediately for better pastures but, it sounds like these people already voted with their feet. At a certain point it becomes scurrying under rocks like frightened vermin.

My recommendation is to fire everyone involved. It's just that simple and completely doable at the scale of a town or county.

Recall elections, deprecation candidates, whatever is necessary to communicate the message.

Not sure about the UK and the rest of the EU but here in italy there is no issue with camping on your land at all. The only restrictions come with permanent structures and storage of certain materials....which is understandable. Also having fires in the bush during summer is frowned upon due to the massive fires people keep starting. Thats just down to irresponsible campers.

There are many people here living in the hills with no power. You have to have a water supply by law but it can be from any source so long as it does not impact nature too much. Water butts collecting rain is encouraged here.

Good to hear that, Ireland has a wee problem with travelers so their local ordinances have been getting stricter and stricter and the UK has been pretty draconian for a while in parts.

These are at least good examples of the inability of state authority to be measured in its response to any problem.

Tool wise, they have only the hammer so nuance is far outside of their capability.

fines have “nothing to do with driving up revenue” and “We are just trying to make you safe.”

Residents hammered with fines for various so-called infractions

I wish it were such a story, but it's not quite so favorable for these guys. They aren't doing it the right way. If they were doing it right there would be others coming, and fast. I would be one of them. They just want to set up and squat basically. The local residents are having to pick up their trash dumping, and they seem to be growing pot illegally in Colorado (yea figure that out).

Wow, that 3rd video. Looks like some Trump fans are there that may want to wall up their county.

I watched. They said they were picking up trash. That eyes in the area contributed to that. They said they bought water at an out of city superstore. They said they were putting RVs or living otherwise, with permission on friend's lands.

The guy said he wasn't growing pot. Looks like he said he said.

I also caught that that meeting may have been cancelled because the feds are miffed at the local board.

The lady speaking about picking up trash was complaining about them, not supporting them.

The only possible problem I see with this is the sanitary issue. Human waste, and what have you.

Having said that, there are ways, simple ones, to take care of that particular problem.

This is all about tax revenue, nothing more, nothing less.

Near as I can see, they're hurting no one and nothing. Leave 'em be.
