BFFT, any luck yet on my other idea? Not that I would change this current, maybe only in DoOm mode!

Thanks!

So, obviously it took a little longer....

It was not the easiest request to fulfill, as there just aren't that many images of a grey alien firing an ar 15 from an angle that would allow him to be shooting at the image of the Mars Rodent. So we improvised.

You know what oh furry one ?

Even by your very high standards of art that one really rocks.

Greys are creepy, and I don't like them for artwork. No color. :v

I wonder if we'll ever get a request that my skillset caters to. Perhaps I should do what Ghost is and simply "Donate" avatars.

Don't worry... a request up your alley will come. Keep an eye out. I only do funny, cartoony stuff and animations, so I'm in the same boat. Want an eye to blink?... that's me.

Feel free to donate as well

In November 2012 I have very little in the way of "skill" to offer. I just played with it every day, and made a million avatars that were never used for the sake of practicing a hobby.

I put a little dragon on someone's avy for fun... from then on, I was hooked.

Ha, me three !

I have a gazillion avatars saved in a folder that I've made over the past year or so just horsing around trying out different things with the GIMP program in an attempt to hone my skills.

I tip my hat to anyone who is a professional graphic artist and does this stuff for a living... there's so bloody much to have to learn !

No it wasn't. in fact I've only just figured it out LOL..................Well I've been pretty sick over the last few days and my first day back to work kinda wiped me out.

Yep

Been there done that got the T-Shirt, just keep posting, at some point some lucky member will spot one they like, it's a feeling that stays with you.

Also when the comps are on the art gets a lot of looks, a good way to expose your style

Yep, I prefer GIMP over photoshop.

I've had both programs for several years. I find GIMP far more user friendly... particularly the way the interface is laid out.

And with the all the updates, add-ons, scripts, brushes, etc that you can download these days, the program has pretty much all the same capabilities as photoshop.

I could never get on with Gimp

But a dear friend gave me a copy of photoshop and I haven't looked back since

Yep. GIMP does everything I need. I've never tried Photoshop.

When I started in Avy creations, I was using MS Paint... my god... GIMP saved me.

I know folks who do it professionally....and they aren't really that great. I mean, you can just take a class to learn where things are, but never have the vision to make something beyond drawing out fonts and corporate logos, maybe airbrushing some photos.

Ive seen many teenagers on Deviant Art who blow me away. Im not much on "community" in that regard, so i don't participate there. But ill browse from time to time. It might be up our friends alley. OpinionatedB hangs out there, I think.

Since you're big into the animations thing, have you downloaded the GAP (GIMP animations package) add-on ?

It does a ton more stuff than just the standard animation stuff that comes with the program.

I love browsing around Deviant Art.

Some of the artwork on that site is mind-blowing... those people have some mad skills and imaginations !

I know those folks as well. (apparel and related artwork)

They have similar skills to those in this thread.

And some make a very nice salary. The problem is that it is really tough to work your way up to that level.

Creative jobs pay very little unless you rise to the top.
