Nothing. People who actually defend Muslims, for instance Western countries opening their borders to fleeing Muslims, for instance myself, whom I am very very proud to admit has helped sponsor a family of six Syrian refugees to reunite with their family in my hometown, and has been helping footing their bills since, are helping Muslims. Those who think they are defending Muslims by referring to a generic and abstract group of people in their head, for purely political reasons, are not actually defending Muslims at all—they are only defending their own politics.
You would think that a liberal-mindset would oppose a religion that condemns freedom of religion and freedom of speech, that mistreats minorities, homosexuals and women, but the rhetoric coming out of the left is nothing short of Islamic advocacy.
Abstract you say? I almost married a Muslim. I've had Muslim friends, co workers, neighbors - none of them were as you describe them here:
You're a hypocrite Les. You want to deny another entire group of people any sort of legitimacy - it's all about you being the voice of reason? You could have simply agreed with me - but you can't - can you?
If you mean to help them - then help them. Don't spend your time playing up to the other side. Your words make it just that much harder for that family you're trying to help to integrate. Your words are setting them up for nothing but misery

Shouldn’t liberalism hate Islam at least as much as it hates Christianity?
One would think but what it boils down to is this.
Muslims voted for Democrats.
Christians vote for Republicans.
This is why liberals defend Islam.
It's like blaming all Catholics for the actions of the IRA.
I despise your name-calling, your implication that one is racist, a bigot, and your all-round methodology.
It is exactly this attitude which is pushing moderates towards the extreme-right, because the extreme-right takes no issue with being called racists and bigots. It is this attitude that makes your man Trump so popular.

Oh is that anything like blaming ALL gun owners for the actions of 'mass shootings'
Or is it like blaming ALL bankers for the actions of the Maddoffs.
Or is it like blaming ALL corporations for the actions of Monstanto.
Glass house.
GLASS HOUSE.

Sadly for your little hate-fest here, 80% of US Muslims voted for Dubya in 2000.

Did I call you a name? I don't think I did actually - but I asked you a lot of sincere questions which you never seem to want to answer. I'm not too keen on your trying to pretend you haven't said what you've said
There is bigotry towards Muslims. Your own anti-Muslim posts are what got me into this thread
If you want to defend bigotry by trying to pretend it doesn't exist - there really is nothing left to say
No one is blaming ALL of those people in the groups you listed. That's just your hyperbole tactic you use when you can't actually address the issue at hand.
You guys need to stop being drama queens and finally admit that you are wrong.

And what a difference a decade makes !!!
(WASHINGTON, D.C., 11/9/2012) -- The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), the nation's largest Muslim civil rights and advocacy organization, today released the results of an informal exit poll indicating that more than 85 percent of American Muslim voters picked President Obama in Tuesday's election
