Found this video of Space-X successful launch, satellite deployments, and their stunning return to earth feet down landing. It could remind one of a 50's "B" movie space opera however this is the real deal. WTG Space-X !

Elon Musk is a man who can bring us to the future, the rest somehow just talks to much

Let's just hope intent is GOOD this time around. Each launch I can bet are being watched like "hawks". Nothing gets past Eagle eyes....

I think the chance of becoming an immortal Legend of the space age lies close at heart.. He even wants to build a "hyper loop", somehow i think he will get it done..

Assume they do the maths and it's cheaper to reuse one than build a cheaper one shot? I mean you have to strip it all anyway and I assume test every piece like a new one then rebuild it like a new one?

By my quich maths, if the cost of taking it apart and replacement parts are cheaper than the material and manufacturing cost, you will be better off. That said, you get cheaper parts if you buy more.

Would love to read the business case!

Go Space-X.

Awesome!

The next big step is a quick refuel and relaunch.

I forget what the turnover time needs to be to satisfy the original concept but, they're on the way!

I'm a contractor in this industry, and I must say this is a GIANT step forward! Both SpaceX and Blue Origin (who landed a rocket back on 11/23 of this year) are doing historic things right now, and making space travel relatively affordable, seeing as they're being able to reuse these rockets.. Most people don't seem to understand the significance of this. Before rockets were a one time shot, like driving your car once to a destination and then it being destroyed, but now we can keep using that car over and over again, with fuel being the real cost for each additional trip... Anyways, this is wonderful for the industry, and look for many more achievements like this moving into the next calendar year... Buckle up, folks!

Thousands of people witnessed the launch and the landing from the space coast. Why don't you tell all of them that it's fake?

History had been made here

This heralds a new era in space travel!!

Tell it to this guy.

You want to claim amateurs are faking their videos of the launch and landing as well? Explain that, explain it.

This event gets very few posts.
But if you say you see a martian in a rover photo look out.
That will be discussed all night.

People don't care about advancement unless it affects their Iphone.

@samkent
At first glance on what spaceX has achieved here, i knew right away it was history in the making. Didnt need news or anyone else to tell me. This is a huge turning point for humanity & space travel. Hope more people realise this...

and for those who aren't familiar, back on 11/23 of this year, Blue Origin, a rival of SpaceX was the actual first company to land a rocket...Both companies will get into a semantics type argument, but Blue Origin was first, but what SpaceX did was more impressive, thus far... both big accomplishments...

Here is the Blue Origin historic rocket launch from 11.23.15

Well one thing you can say about Elon Musk he isn't shy about making statements.

December 2015 – SPACE – Mankind may only have a brief window to set foot on Mars before a disaster such as a third World War makes it no longer possible, Elon Musk has warned. The founder of SpaceX, which was the first private company to resupply the International Space Station, fears such a war could set back technological advancements. His company is preparing to announce its ambitious plans for rocket and spacecraft technology to carry humans to the red planet.

You're over simplifying. They're not at all the same accomplishment. Apples and oranges. One was a flight of a purely sub-orbital rocket, straight up and down. The other was the flight of an orbital rocket. It's like saying that SpaceShipOne is a feat equivalent to the space shuttle, or that the X-15 beat the space shuttle as a reusable space plane. The space shuttle was of course the first reusable orbital space vehicle, but the X-15 could also be considered the first reusable sub-orbital space vehicle. SpaceX is the first to propulsively recover the first stage of an orbital rocket. Their rocket actually put a payload into orbit, Blue Origin's rocket is not capable of that. Blue origin has the first sub-orbital rocket to reach space and land vertically, SpaceX has the first orbital class rocket to reach space and land vertically. Both are major firsts, but they are not the same. If you really wanted to get technical though, SpaceX successfully landed their Falcon 9 in the water before they started attempting landings on the barges, and that was long before Blue Origin's flight.
