A wall of mud smashed into multi-storey buildings at the Hengtaiyu industrial park in the city’s north-western Guangming New District on Sunday morning. The landslide was caused by the build-up of waste construction mud in the vicinity, the Ministry of Land and Resources said in a post on its official Weibo account.

I can't what for the controlled demo crowd to say they 'heard explosions' and the building was 'rigged' beforehand.

No one is going to say that.

The buildings in the OP video did not fall within their own footprint in the least. Not even close. They got side swiped and crushed by a gnarly crap wave. Lateral force cracked the buildings off their foundations, and buckled their structure beyond their ability to retain verticality. Simple physics.

"Footprint" is a misnomer, even demolished buildings don't collapse perfectly. They do collapse downward though, when their supports are removed. A mud flow would accomplish that, like we see in the China video.

Reminds me of the Aberfan disaster in Wales back in the 60s.It was kinda in their minds that something bad MIGHT happen one day,so they buried their heads in the sand and hoped it wouldn't.

Based on the aerial photo of the size of the landslide, I can't even fathom how big that mud pile must have been where they just kept piling it and piling it and piling it !

A construction disaster that never should have happened, and now 91 people are buried alive.
