I nominate the Gary Powers Incident as the first thread. Any takers?

I nominate Galla Placidia as the first topic.

Regardless of your own stance on the issue, I believe it to be an excellent topic and very worthwhile in a History forum.
Someone will, no doubt, start it here. I may even partake therein myself.

My personal favourite topic is the relationship and historical similarities which are shared between the Late Roman Empire and America (from inception to today) and how they both have led to the situation we now see in the Middle East.

Only if the "Dark Skies" (from the 90's series) alien intervention angle is mentioned.

Why do I get the feeling this guy will be heavily involved in the history forum?

There is a wealth of historical photography to use as reference... as well as art and drawings (particularly political cartoons). I'm sure we'll be seeing a lot of that.

There's a lot to be learned about how artists of their time viewed the state of affairs. Da Vinci snuck some controversial statements in his work and the same radical resistance to the status quo can be seen in painting right up to today.
