I have an English Bulldog who is soft as s***e so not much good. Got the standard baseball bat and an air rifle but tbh .22 pellets aren't going to stop much. Crossbow is what I was thinking but not sure which brands/manufacturers are decent.... And the Bic lighter with aerosol reminds me of something we used to do at school!
Cheers

I have a few ideas that i wont share in an open forum. Though Paintball Guns are legal and Frozen paint balls will knock out your teeth and they can go full auto.
Best defence is the UK is a Big Dog or a fat ugly wife.

1 can of oil based spray paint and a Bic lighter... substitute road flare for Bic lighter if you are worried about a Bic lighter flame blowing out.
That will land you in jail..

The criminal element seem to be the ones that already have big dogs and fat ugly wives!
The stumbling block is always going to be what is deemed "reasonable force" by the police, who seem to like to make examples of people using force to protect themselves and their property. I know this from first hand experience.

I think you can get semi-automatic air rifles. Crossbows are also an option. A decent catapult is also very effective, Black Widow comes to mind.

Wasp or other flying insect spray. I keep a can in the entry foyer and one by the bed. Most will spray a distance of 20-30 feet.
Will stop a person in their tracks if sprayed in the eyes and usually requires medical attention for treatment.
I have used this on a pesky bear and a aggressive dog before. It works!
The active ingredient in wasp spray is pyrethrins. Here's what an Ohio State University bulletin has to say about the affect of pyrethrins on humans: "Because of their low level of toxicity, however, pyrethrins and synthetic pyrethroids usually cause only irritation to the skin and eyes." Source

Don't you guys get in quite a bit of trouble for harming a burglar in your home?
Honestly I'd just say a baseball bat, baton, or just "happen" to have a few cans of hair spray sitting throughout the house, although I love the idea of a paintball gun with frozen ammo.
