Either Jeb has completely thrown in the towel or Donald Trump is a genius. Neither is true, but it is a great move on Trump's part. Jeb must be totally p!ssed by this.

More proof that we need to do something about domain name ownership. I find it completely absurd that if I ever use my name for a public event I'm going to be forced to buy every permutation of my name just for security purposes. If the same standards were applied to digital mediums as non digital mediums there would be several laws against that.

I wonder what Jeb Bush's thoughts are on the subject.

jeb2016.com...

Takes me to Jeb's site. Not a Trump to be found.

Oh I see, this site, JebBush.com, takes you to Trump. Well, who owns that domain? Sounds like it was never Jeb?

They're clearly a Trump fan. My question is, did Bush even try to buy that domain? Was he turned down or too cheap to pay for it?

You'd think politicians would grasp the concept of buying every version of their name possible, to keep this from happening. You're running for president, you're a Bush, an ex-gov, but someone else comes along and registers your name. Jeebus Jeb.

Haha , I would have been great if the Mexico .mx registrar and all Muslims sites got redirected to the Trump.

That could have been the catalyst for WW3.

This was my point, Jeb is a complete moron for overlooking this. It's not like this is some exotic permutation of his name. For God's sake, that's his name.

FABULOUS.COM PTY is a domain reseller. They probably don't control that domain.

I was hoping someone would do this because I'm lazy, so thank you!

Aussies eh? Trolling or just caught up in the reality show that is American politics? God I hope they're trolling and have JebBush.com redirect to a new site each week, or better yet each day!

It's not always possible, if the squatter moves in first there's nothing you can do. In this case, that domain was bought 18 years ago, Jeb would have never had the opportunity to buy it.

The domain has not been very active based on archive.org. The only old entry...

Got an HTTP 302 response at crawl time

Redirecting to...

Thanks for the confidence, but I'll never get involved in politics so that need is out. On the other hand, it also comes into play with concepts like job hunting and networking. If you dislike someone, one of the easiest things you can do is set up an anonymous webpage to defame them that looks like it's their own personal site. It's for this same reason that even if you don't use social media you should maintain an account on each site just so that you have control over your official name/presence.

It's something that's pretty ridiculous really, that you need to maintain a relationship with all of these various companies just so that someone else can't later use their service to commit fraud in your name. If this were the physical domain rather than digital that would never happen.

It's basic cyber security like not giving out your debit cards pin, but because of the lack of laws in our country, it's a necessity.

I'm not sure which way to go here. It shows the domain was created in 1997, Jeb may not have ever had an opportunity to buy it. On the other hand, he's had quite a few other web related issues with his campaign so they might just not have anyone technically savvy enough to know better. Regardless of the reason why, do you think it's right that people can impersonate him, and in this case cause him a financial loss, completely legally for something that was potentially beyond his control?
