Breaking News image
A stabbing at a Tube station in east London is being treated as a "terrorist incident", Scotland Yard has said.
Police were called to reports of a number of people who had been attacked at Leytonstone underground station at around 19:00 GMT.

Tube stabbing 'terrorist incident'

Other sources are saying the attacker yelled "this is for Syria" as he was attacking people. Only one victim, but he suffered serious knife wounds.

Met Police subdued the attacker with a taser.

Met counter-terrorism officials have taken over the investigation.

Is it IS "inspired" or IS directed? Time will tell I suppose.

Well least it was a knife with only one victim. Could of been a hell of a lot worse.

And good job on the british police too. He can be brought to trial and we can find out the motives and look him away without turning the pos into a martyr.

How much more evidence we need to clearly say we are attacked on our land for our kindness, help and tolerance? How more refugees we have to accept to these attacks became stopped? Are You Brits ready for another 22/05, 7/7?

This is example of that you don't need a gun to fight for Syria on West.

It seems that any act of public violence by some whacko is getting classified as terrorism in order to enact harsher penalties and infringe individual rights.

Welcome to the new norm!

Probable Obama and AG Lynch reaction:

"this is horribel! Are the victims ok - the victims being muslims that might face an angry backlash - are they ok?

Unlike the USA we dont descend into paranoid hysteria and knee jerk reactions (mostly).

Hopefully we can look at this cleary, wait for the investigation and treat this as a tragic incident but not one to erode our freedoms , values and culture of tolerance.

Tolerance can also erode freedom. Two sided coin. Needs balance to work properly.

At the moment, the pc brigade and cultural apologists have too much sway.

The U.K. Needs to wake up to the fact that we have a cancer in our midst.

Tolerance is not the answer. True integration is.

I would think this person is I.S. inspired but not connected. If he had connections or a network of people and resources, he would have more than a knife.

I have a bad feeling we will get something more organised nearer Christmas.

Well played to the Police, caught him alive. He's in custody. No chance of him becoming a martyr.

But we dont even know yet if he is even a syrian refugee or a home grown nutcase.

in fact none of the attacks have been by syrians but home grown jihadis.

It does not matter if some of these acts are directed, scripted, or just plain happenstance, the results for a government will always be the same.

“Terrorism is the best political weapon for nothing drives people harder than a fear of sudden death”.
– Adolph Hitler

“Why of course the people don’t want war … But after all it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship … Voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.”
– Hermann Goering, Nazi leader.

“The easiest way to gain control of a population is to carry out acts of terror. [The public] will clamor for such laws if their personal security is threatened”.
– Josef Stalin

slashing a man's throat in front of people on their way home is likely to cause terror isn't it? So then it's quite reasonable to call it that.

There's a cell phone video of the entire attack. I won't be posting a link because it's highly graphic, but it shows the behavior of the attacker before and during the incident.

ETA - Daily Fail has an edited version up, starting after the attack took place and as police arrived. Well done to the officers, they handled business extremely well and highly professionally.

Terror incidents will sadly occur regardless of any myriad of laws that our current crop of politicians are thinking of. They happen in places with strong gun control laws, they happen in every part of the globe.

The terrorists are not afraid of western laws or western punishment.

We need to terrorize the terrorists if we want this to stop. imho

I like the UK and am sorry to see them suffer as well.

To too terribly on topic here....but for the life of me I could not picture what it must be like to stab someone with a tube. Or why you just wouldn't use a knife.

Then i found out im just a stupid yank.

Who in the USA has descended into paranoid hysteria ? No knee jerk reactions here. We have the FBI still investigating the last incident. But , if it walks like a duck , quacks like a duck , it must be a duck.....

And , we also are awaiting the results of the investigation...

How many innocent Syrians or Muslism in general have been killed in drone strikes and other military operations in Western interest. Don't worry you are still winning in straight death count.

That's alright, this Yank was right there with you...

Thumbs up to the cops. Handled it as well as could be asked of them. It would have been completely understandable if they'd used lethal force, but they didn't. Good on them!
