My question is can you spell creationism without looking at the way I spelt it?

The other day you seemed to think creationism was 2000 years old, what makes you think your enough of an authority to answer any questions on this topic?

So the other day you create a thread about the belief in God being irrational and say:

Do you have a concept of god you think can stand the strain of logical scrutiny? Tell me about your god and I will show through simple reasoning why your belief is irrational.

And now you're attempting to...teach people about creationism?

Pick a side in the religious trolling.

I was literally about to post this.

(ok, I was going to word it differently & ramble a lot, but the point would've been the same lol)

Would you not consider the thoughts of St. Augustine as being a valid point on creationism, where he stated that while creation is a valid point, but we should keep an open mind when it comes to physical evidence that would either support or deny such?

Where do you get that you are God? God created you. You did not create yourself.

You did mention above that God created god. How is possible for something to create itself?

a cause cannot be its own effect. thats paradoxical thinking and only serves to emphasize your inability to rationalize the chicken and egg conundrum where "god" is concerned. but to be fair, you never said you had all the answers, only that you would do your best. better get a refund for that theology degree in any case.

I saw that there is a thread (several, in fact) for people who want to know more about evolution. Well, though science fascinates me, my training is as a theologian. I thought it'd be nice to have a thread answering questions people have about Creationism. Fire away and I'll do my best to explain everything to you.

And how does "your creationism" tie into spontanious creation as was taught just a few years ago?
Is there a corrolation between the two?

This thread is called "Ask me anything about Creationism", so I did. Am I not allowed to ask questions I may already know the answer to?

When, where and by who did the literal interpretation of the book of genesis used by creationists start?

e: for information it's not "originally" since the texts from the Church fathers clearly show that they do not favor a literal reading of Genesis. It only came later. I have an idea when and where but want your opinion about it.

As you will see here, the belief in creationism predates the term. If you are asking about the term, it is fairly recent. The creationist belief, however, goes back to ancient times. As far as literalism is concerned, it has been around as long as the Bible. Yes, some church fathers saw genesis as a metaphor - but still others took it (or parts at least) literally.

what god do you believe in and why?

What would it take for you to change your mind?

What made you believe in a deity?

Science also studies how we got to point A (the origin of life); it's called Cosmology, geology and organic chemistry.

Science knows nothing about this part. It may have theories (such as abiogenesis) - but that's it. Creationism says that the answer is God. Now, creationists differ after that point - some think God created us as we are now. Others think God started the process and let evolution take over. There is a wide array of thought within the creationist community.
