I'd rather contribute to rebuilding the world so it doesn't end instead of standing back and waiting for it all to burn down.

Why do you know the date when it says no one will know the date of his supposed return?.

I can answer this. First off, you have the quote wrong.

Matthew 24-36 may say this.
But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

However taking it individually takes it out of context.

This is how it should be read.

Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh:
So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors.
Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away.
But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.
But as the days of Noah were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,
And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.
Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.
Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.
But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.
Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.

The point of the paragraph is that you won't know the exact date and time you will know when it is near. The point of the fig tree parable. And based on the prophesies of the end time I would say it's very near. Consider this list.

Matthew 24-14 the first event of the end times.
And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

With modern technologies I would say this was fulfilled a long time ago. Based on that Israel became a nation in 1948. An end time event predicted in multiple places in the bible.

Also one more prophesy to consider. The day of Jezreel prophesy of Hosea. In that prophesy it was predicted that Israel and Judah would be destroyed. But one day they would be returned. One of the major points of the Leviticus 26 agreement at the heart of the Jewish religion. But this prophesy gives a timeframe for the curse they would face. Hosea 6-2 states they would face a 2000 year curse followed by a thousand year "day of Jezreel".

It's getting awfully close to the two thousand year end of the curse don't you think?

I will prepare by getting ready to film the expressions of wealthy conservative Christian faces as he just shakes his head at them and walks away.

Then he will see my laughter, he will turn to me and say "I know, right?" and I give him a high-five.

For it is written : It is easier to pass a camel through the "eye of a needle" than for a rich man to enter the Gates of Heaven

Same here. Remember, I want to create a self sufficient, socialist Utopia here. And my personal crusade/jihad is against world hunger, homelessness, bigotry, rape, war & abuse. Or to be more direct, I'm literally trying to wipe negativity & suffering out of our dimension. Yeah...

But I still believe our existence will eventually "end". It could be tonight, a million years from now, when the sun finally runs out of energy (which would only affect this galaxy), or when/if the Universe stops expanding & starts collapsing on itself. Likewise, i could die a few minutes after I finish typing this. No one knows when things will "end".

And since no human can hasten nor delay this "ending", I think it's pointless to worry about it. So I'll just keep pushing forward with what I believe is right until I die, our world "dies", or our dimension collapses, whichever comes first.

Recognize that Christ is three in one and not just one in one.

You recognize that you didn't type those words, HE did. Jesus never left !!!!! HE/SHE/CREATOR is everything. Everything is ONE. Peace.

Of course our existence will end. Nothing lasts forever. Even matter has a lifespan (though it is technically older than what the estimated age of the universe will be).

Well some ends can be hasten and prevented by humans. Others not so much. Global warming for instance. We can control that.

Well Jesus isn't an alien, at least not traditionally. I'd say aliens coming here and bringing Armageddon is about a thousand times more likely than the biblical Jesus coming back.

Matthew 24:34 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled.

To better understand Matthew one should also consider Luke.

Luke 21:31-32
(31) So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.
(32) Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.

The meaning is clear if you read in context. Jacob's trouble (Great Tribulation) is described. Then Luke tells us that this generation in which the Great Tribulation occurs shall not all die off till the kingdom of God is shown. Re read with that understanding and you will see that is the authors intent. In Matthew, Jesus is not referencing His generation which he is preaching to but the generation which witnesses the great tribulation in the future.

One must read in contextual understanding and not modern chapter and verse divisions.

Heard it all before.
All the preachy Polly-wanna-cracker crappola!
All the 'end of the world' (tm)!
Over and over, for millennia!

Here's someone who thought like you;

ARKANSAS CITY (AP) — A Little Rock woman was killed yesterday after leaping through her moving car's sun roof during an incident best described as "a mistaken rapture" by dozens of eye witnesses. Thirteen other people were injured after a twenty-car pile up resulted from people trying to avoid hitting the woman who was apparently convinced Jesus that the rapture was occurring when she saw twelve people floating up into the air, and then passed a man on the side of the road who she claimed was Jesus.

"She started screaming "He's back, He's back" and climbed right out of the sunroof and jumped off the roof of the car," said Everett Williams, husband of 28-year-old Georgann Williams who was pronounced dead at the scene. "I was slowing down but she wouldn't wait till I stopped," Williams said.

She thought the rapture was happening and was convinced that Jesus was gonna lift her up into the sky," he went on to say. "This is the strangest thing I've seen since I've been on the force," said Paul Madison, first officer on the scene. Madison questioned the man who looked like Jesus and discovered that he was dressed up as Jesus and was on his way to a toga costume party when the tarp covering the bed of his pickup truck came loose and released twelve blow up sex dolls filled with helium which floated up into the air.

Ernie Jenkins, 32, of Fort Smith, who's been told by several of his friends that he looks like Jesus, pulled over and lifted his arms into the air in frustration, and said , "Come back here," just as the Williams' car passed him, and Mrs. Williams was sure that it was Jesus lifting people up into the sky as they passed by him, according to her husband, who says his wife loved Jesus more than anything else.

When asked for comments about the twelve sex dolls, Jenkins replied "This is all just too weird for me. I never expected anything like this to happen."

Actually it sounds like were on the same page. Though I would point out a few details of Luke 21. It's not the same sermon. Luke 21 happened 1 to 2 days earlier in the temple. Matthew 24 happened on the evening of his last day on the Mount of Olives. Also in verse 24 he is mentioned the "times of the Gentiles". With that he is splitting his prophesy into 2 parts. The early and late parts. The times of the Gentiles started with the destruction of the Temple in 70 AD. And here's the screwy thing about the ending of them. They could be already be over.

If you refer to the prophesies of Genesis 48 and 49 and consider that the genetics of Semitic Jews and Israelites have been mixing into the gene pool of the middle east for thousands of years you can only draw one conclusion. Everybody in the middle east is genetically an Israelite by now. Even though Muslims still control part of the city.

Very well taught and agree. Actually there is some disagreement over the times of the Gentiles. Some scholars do see this start as in 68 to 70 CE while others insist that it starts with Emperor Hadrian in 134 CE with Jerusalem being rebuilt and named Syria Palaestina and the Jews banned from the city. Nevertheless your points are well founded and taken by me as true and reasonable.

You may be right although I have listened to that same discussion from my Jewish friends. It seems as though there is a great effort in Israel to categorize all registered Jews as to their tribal identification through genetics. If this can be done then non Jews can identified as well. I don't understand the process involved but seems reasonable as one reads Revelation.

KJV - Revelation 7:5-8
(5) Of the tribe of Juda were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Reuben were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Gad were sealed twelve thousand.
(6) Of the tribe of Aser were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Nepthalim were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Manasses were sealed twelve thousand.
(7) Of the tribe of Simeon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Levi were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Issachar were sealed twelve thousand.
(8) Of the tribe of Zabulon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Joseph were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Benjamin were sealed twelve thousand.

If Revelation is correct then this shows that the gene pool has not been completely diluted. Otherwise there would be no way that the Revelation could list their 144,000 Jews.

Yes, of course!
Like the New Testament!
That was my point! *__-

And I have to award you the 'Golden Gazoo Award' (tm) for being one of the FEW to actually check it out!
You'd be amazed (or not) at all who merely accept what they read!

a reply to: snypwsd My mom was an athiest at one time. Then something happened. She completely changed. She recieved real believable proof. Enough to convince her. She had no doubts. She went back and convinced 5 of her 6 siblings as well. She took care of people in many ways all around her and all around the world as well. She grew up in poverty, as a share croppers daughter. After she changed her mind and accepted Christ, she was blessed in a massive wayu, in many ways. She also became very wealthy from a land sale to Wallmart after her poor old folks died. They had 80 acres of dirt in their eldery years. Wall mart bought iot for over 40K per acre, and paid thousands per month for years before finalizing the sale. She invested her time and treasure in many people throught the world. Caring for unwed mothers, counciling, donating, and feeding the poor and sheltering the homeless. She washed thousands of loads of laundry and folded them too for people in unfortunate circumstances. She took in foriegn exchange students, and helped young unwed pregnant mothers. She took people to DR appointments and baby sat their children for months at a time, while the went back to school to better themselves. She housed missionaries, in her own home, fed them, and bought clothing for them and their children. She didnt just talk the talk. She walked the walk
